About us

Windham School District (WSD) provides appropriate educational programs to meet the needs of the eligible incarcerated population, thus reducing recidivism by assisting individuals in becoming productive members of society. Studies show that education and employment reduce recidivism and save tax dollars. Many of the individuals in the Texas Departments of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) lack the educational background and basic skills necessary for attaining employment upon release.

  • Happy #NationalInternDay! In recent years, Windham School District has had the privilege of partnering with college students and recent graduates, providing them with practical experience in their areas of study while supporting the district and staff. Windham interns have contributed to various departments, including Information Technology, Library Services and Communications, with plans for more opportunities in the future. Since starting the Intern program, four individuals have transitioned from Windham interns to full-time district employees after completing their internships and successfully navigating the hiring process. We extend our gratitude to all current and former Windham interns for their hard work and dedication!
