A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the Connect North San José workshop on February 27th! It was an incredible evening of conversation, collaboration, and community input on the future of transportation in North San José. We are especially grateful to the City of San José's Department of Transportation, whose leadership continues to drive this important effort forward. Thank you Prosperity Lab for helping us to plan, promote, and implement the event, Art Builds Community for leading the art component and engaging attendees in creative ways, and Arup for designing the informative boards that illustrated a transportation vision shaped by the community feedback we've gathered since January 2024. The feedback we received at this event will help shape key improvements to make North San José safer and more accessible for all modes of travel. We appreciate everyone who took the time to share their perspectives and contribute to the conversation. Enjoy these pictures from the event, and congratulations to Bruce, a community member who won the e-bike giveaway! • At Winter, we believe that effective community engagement is the cornerstone of successful public decision-making.   This Wednesday, we had the privilege of partnering with the City of San Mateo to host a community engagement event on a topic that has sparked important conversations: the bike lanes on Humboldt Street. Over 100 community members joined us to share their perspectives, ideas, and concerns with local officials.   The event featured focus group discussions where residents engaged in a meaningful dialogue facilitated by a Winter, followed by a report-back session to share key takeaways. This allowed for collaborative problem-solving and ensured that all voices were heard. At Winter, we specialize in designing and facilitating engagement processes like this one to help cities make informed decisions that reflect the priorities of their communities.   Let’s work together to create solutions that serve everyone.

  • Last week, Winter had the opportunity to attend the California Transit Association conference, where we connected with industry leaders, innovators, and transit professionals from across the state. Here are a few of the takeaways from the conference: Bus Service Improvements – Transit agencies shared strategies for enhancing bus service, including better route planning and using technology to improve reliability and customer experience. Activating Public Spaces – Transforming public spaces around transit hubs into vibrant, welcoming areas can enhance the rider experience and strengthen community connections. Accessible Community Engagement – Inclusive, community-driven engagement is essential to ensure all riders, especially from underserved groups, have a voice in shaping transit services. We’re excited to apply these insights in our work as we continue to develop effective strategies for community outreach and engagement on behalf of our clients.

  • Santiago Vazquez Garcia, our Deputy Engagement Manager, recently shared his expertise and passion for outdoor recreation at Bike East Bay bike camping workshop. This free, one-hour session introduced participants to the joys of bike camping and offered practical tips for planning fun, safe, and comfortable trips across the Bay Area. From overnight stays at local parks to extended backcountry adventures, Santiago covered essential skills like trip planning, safety protocols, and how to make the most of your outdoor experience. At Winter, we're proud to support community engagement that promotes outdoor recreation and sustainability. #CommunityEngagement #SustainableRecreation #BayArea

Our team members Frank, Haleema, and Santiago just wrapped up an inspiring few days at the Mpact Conference in Philadelphia. We presented on strategies for equitable community engagement and creating safer public transportation systems. 📍 Transportation planning must be grounded in the lived experiences of those who use it. 📍 Empowering communities starts with transparent communication—clearly outlining roles, processes, and expected outcomes to build trust. 📍 Driving impactful transportation solutions means centering the needs of those most affected by inequities in the system. We’re excited to bring back valuable insights from industry peers to continue advancing equitable transit solutions in the Bay Area!
