WMS’ second annual mini-golf competition was a great way to celebrate the season while raising money for Sheppard Pratt. Teams designed and built holes throughout the office, there was even a water hazard! The competition was tough but Paul Speargas, CFA and Joel Houck, CFA, CFP®, CAIA®rose to the occasion to bring home the win!  

WMS colleagues spent an afternoon packing meals at Baltimore Hunger Project. Baltimore Hunger Project is dedicated to eliminating the growing problem of weekend childhood hunger by feeding bodies and minds. Each week, volunteers assemble bags filled with a balance of healthy, child-friendly items. The food bags are distributed to 48 schools in Baltimore City and Baltimore County and then placed in the backpacks of children identified as food insecure. WMS assembled 700 food packages that will help feed hungry children over the holiday break.

WMS colleagues Chad Norfolk, CFP®, Timothy Riley and Kyle Cotoia, CFP® earned their pumpkin pie by participating in The Y in Central Maryland’s annual 5k Turkey Trot. Each year the Turkey Trot raises close to a million dollars which provides financial help for families who otherwise could not afford participation in safe, educational and healthy opportunities such as preschool, camp, after school programs, and a membership at a Y family center.

WMS Partners is pleased to welcome a new colleague: Kyle Cotoia, CFP®, Associate Advisor. Kyle will support the advisory team in the preparation and implementation of client application and enrollment forms, data gathering regarding client financial information, preparation of client meeting materials, tax coordination and special projects as needed.   Kyle recently earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) certificate. To receive the CFP® certification, candidates must complete the education requirement; which is completing coursework on financial planning through a CFP Board Registered Program, sit for a 170-question proctored exam, and complete 6,000 hours of professional experience related to the financial planning process or 4,000 hours of apprenticeship experience. A graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, Kyle earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance. Please join us in welcoming Kyle to the team!
