We had a HOOT on the noon show today with our friends from the Potawatomi Zoo! Joshua Sisk, the zoo’s executive director, and Jami Richard, the zoo’s general curator, stopped by The WNDU Studios with a couple of friends! Josh and Jami brought a barred owl and a screech owl onto the show to explain why they are important to our ecosystem and tell us how they serve the zoo for educational purposes. All aboard! Get ready for “Rockin’ the Rails” this weekend! It’s a fundraising event for the National New York Central Railroad Museum. “Rockin’ the Rails” raises funds to restore its caboose from the early 1900s. The hope is to fix the roof, replace any wood, and give the piece of railway history a new paint job. Every Wednesday, we feature a story on a child who needs to be adopted. We call this segment Wednesday’s Child. This week Jordan shared her story over some ice cream and mini golf at Ninja Golf in Granger. That’s where she said she likes to be — outside. “I’m a nature girl. I like being out in nature. I like being outside,” Jordan said. Jordan is ready for a forever family. She wants to find someone who will support her. “Someone that loves me and cares for me,” Jordan explained. A landmark settlement is paving the way for an overhaul in how home buyers and sellers pay realtors’ fees. Up until now, home sellers typically had to pay a 5% or 6% commission. Going forward, buyers’ agents must discuss their compensation upfront. They will have to enter into a written agreement with a prospective home buyer before touring a property together. The changes are part of a $418 million settlement announced in March by the National Association of Realtors. John De Souza, president of Cressy & Everett Real Estate, joined us on WNDU 16 News Now at Noon to explain the changes going into effect this weekend.
