Women Lawyers of Franklin County (WLFC) is a networking and social group for legal professionals and students in Central Ohio. Established in 1942, WLFC has grown from a few members to over 250 today. Throughout this time, WLFC has continued to address the professional needs and concerns of women in the legal profession in the Greater Columbus area. We advocate for the inclusion, equality and respect of all women in our profession and our community. Our culture is rooted in the honest exchange of ideas and dedicated to the professional advancement of women through leadership, educational programming, networking and community outreach. Congratulations to Allyson, and a HUGE thank you to Mac Murray & Shuster LLP for sponsoring the Betty D. Montgomery Scholarship 👏🏽💙💚
Congratulations to this year's Betty D. Montgomery Scholarship recipient, Allyson C.! Allyson is a recent graduate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where she served as a Judicial Extern and Intern in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. After taking the bar exam this summer, she will serve as a Judicial Law Clerk in St. Croix, USVI. Long term, Allyson's goal is to be a federal litigator and start a non-profit to use civic education and alternative dispute resolution to positively introduce the legal profession to youth of marginalized groups The Betty D. Montgomery Scholarship was established through Women Lawyers of Franklin County in 2020 to honor our friend and colleague. As Ohio's first woman Attorney General and first Auditor of State (just two of her numerous "firsts!"), Betty blazed a trail for women in law and in public service. The impact of her accomplishments and continued support of women in law are felt to this day. We have no doubt that Allyson will join Betty in making her own mark on the legal landscape, in her local community, and beyond!
