About us

Driven by the determination of pioneering female One Health practitioners, our network emerged from a meeting at the World One Health Congress in Singapore in November 2022. Recognizing the pressing need for gender equity in both One Health events and projects, these passionate individuals embarked on a transformative journey. The resulting dialogue led to the creation of the Women for One Health (WfOH) network, officially launched in December 2022. Despite its relative youth, our network has received an overwhelming and resounding response. Within a mere six months, we have united over 180 community members from diverse geographical regions, all dedicated to amplifying women's presence and fostering equitable representation in One Health events and crucial decision-making processes. At the WfOH network, we are driven by a set of ambitious aims that guide our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable One Health community: • Ignite a powerful movement to enhance the representation and participation of women in the One Health community. • Advocate for gender parity in all One Health events and platforms, ensuring equal opportunities for women's voices to be heard. • Prioritize equal inclusion of women from the Global South, acknowledging and addressing their unique challenges. • Establish a robust resource base of accomplished female experts in the field of One Health, providing a rich repository of knowledge and expertise. • Nurture and empower future female leaders in the One Health domain through a dedicated mentoring program, fostering their growth and success. • Inspire collaborative One Health research projects among our network experts, promoting interdisciplinary approaches and innovative solutions. • Extend support for the publication of joint research, policy papers, and opinion pieces within the One Health space, amplifying the collective impact of our shared knowledge.
