We received our first donation from Cradles to Crayons, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending child clothing insecurity! Their program Giving Factory Direct shipped us sets of brand new individually-bundled and kid-tailored clothes, which are perfect to use in our emergency Bags-to-Go for clients unable to come into our boutique (plus the packaging is just our color! 😉💜). This donation was made possible by The TJX Companies, Inc. Thank you so much for partnering with us! #Nonprofit #Partnership #Community #GivingBack #WomenGivingBack

WGB supports women and children in crisis on a first step to stability by providing quality clothing at no cost.
About us
Women Giving Back supports women and children in crisis on a first step to stability by providing quality clothing at no cost, assisted by a caring and committed community. Founded in 2007 by a core group of building industry sales and marketing professionals, the goal initially was to supplement the great work HomeAid Northern Virginia does in renovating shelters by helping transitionally homeless women and children get on their feet with clothes to help them enter the workplace and fit in at school. Since 2015, Women Giving Back has been a standalone 501(c)3 and continues to expand its outreach in the Greater DC Metro area. We have grown from working from the back of a small retail operation to now where we have over 14,000 square feet of warehouse, boutique, and available office space. We proudly watch as our clients persevere, thrive, increase their self-confidence and enable themselves to improve their lives and achieve independence. This increased self-esteem leads to an obvious resilience, poise, and pep in their steps. We build confidence and self-esteem by providing quality clothing, school supplies, food, toiletries, and other essentials paired with supportive services to foster their return to self-sufficiency. Our vision is to be the most impactful provider of free clothing and emergency support services to women and children in the region who are homeless, living in local shelters, transitional housing facilities, or safe houses, or living at or below the poverty line – including those coming out of incarceration, fleeing domestic violence, and immigrants and refugees adjusting to life in our region.

We are excited to announce three valuable additions to our Board! With professional experience in labor law and volunteer involvement with numerous women's causes, Letitia Silas has dedicated her life and skills to help others improve their circumstances in an empathetic and empowering way. She values the importance of showing our clients they are resilient despite their past challenges and have promising futures ahead, and holds a strong personal belief that confidence begins with how we present ourselves (with clothing playing a crucial role) — a perfect match with WGB's philosophy! A crucial part of Amanda Baxter's career as an executive in transportation infrastructure has been promoting and empowering women in a male-dominant industry. Her determination for the advancement of others stems from her understanding that individuals in need can be hidden throughout our community, often not aware of available resources or not comfortable asking for help. She is motivated to be a connector and shine more visibility on WGB's work to expand our support base — we are thrilled to have her on board! Dee McGuire has already exceled as a proponent of WGB's work through her regular volunteering and service on the Development Committee. Her deep connection to WGB's mission, highlighted by community members' generosity and the respectful atmosphere for clients, is evident in the way she communicates our impact and the time she devotes to the organization. Her leadership, problem-solving, and team-centric mentality will be integral in propelling our growth, and we are so thankful for her continued commitment!

We are so grateful for our new partnership this year with the DC Mayor’s Office on Returning Citizen Affairs (MORCA)! 🙌 We had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group of ladies from MORCA to Women Giving Back, Inc., where they had an absolute blast shopping for clothing. 💃✨ By providing access to free clothing, we’re helping to remove one more barrier on their journey. It’s an honor to support these incredible women as they work towards rebuilding their lives. Thank you to MORCA for the important work you do, and we look forward to continuing this impactful partnership! #WGB #MORCA #ReentrySupport #BreakingBarriers #Empowerment #WomenSupportingWomen

In the spirit of Workforce Development Month, we hosted our annual resume workshop in partnership with CREW Northern Virginia (CREW NoVA). Clients were invited for resume crafting and interview coaching, followed by shopping for professional attire in our boutique. There's nothing like an enhanced toolkit and a confidence boost on the pathway to success!
