  • Women’s health has long been under-researched, underfunded, and underserved, but innovation is paving the way for change. In this webinar, you’ll hear from a biotech company executive committed to inclusivity and women’s equity at all levels and why supporting women scientists advances women's health. The founders of BiRed Imaging, Inc., an RIT Venture company, will discuss how their technology increases access to early detection and localization of breast cancer and reduces unnecessary biopsies by utilizing infrared imaging technology combined with an analytical approach to address the most common cancer in women. We'll also learn from an emergency medical physician who works to serve vulnerable populations and a survivor of triple-negative breast cancer. The panel will be moderated by Erika von Euw, co-founder and chair of WIB-Los Angeles and the 2024 WIB x RIT Executive MBA Scholar, will moderate the discussion. She has spent the past 22 years in translational oncology research, including nearly 10 years collaborating with Dr. Dennis Slamon, often referred to as one of the "fathers of Herceptin." Women are driving scientific breakthroughs, leading biopharma innovation, and shaping business strategy—yet they remain underrepresented in leadership roles. Today we are launching BLOC 100, our inaugural initiative recognizing 100 women of color and the allies championing their leadership in biopharma, biotech, and life sciences. The numbers make it clear: - Women hold only about 34% of executive roles in biotech. - Black, Latina, and Indigenous women make up less than 5% of executives. - Less than 10% of biotech board seats belong to women of color. - Women-founded biopharma startups receive a fraction of venture capital funding compared to male-founded companies. BLOC 100 is about recognition, influence, and action. This initiative will highlight leaders making a significant impact across the industry, alongside the allies who actively support them. Who can be nominated? Luminaries: Senior executives, C-suite leaders, and board members Vanguards: Rising leaders driving change in biopharma Catalysts: Allies and sponsors who advocate for and create opportunities for women of color in leadership Nominations are open from February 6 – March 5, 2025. Honorees will be announced the week of International Women’s Day in March and recognized at the BLOC at BIO Reception on June 16, 2025. Submit a nomination today with the link here: https://lnkd.in/gR_mHpqT Who are you nominating? #BLOC100 #WomenInBiopharma #IWD2025
