Summer Intern Spotlight: Meet Melany Mihai as she shares about her first month Creating Beauty That Moves the World✅ "It’s been nothing but smiles here at the East Coast headquarters. From getting to meet the L'Oreal USA CEO David Greenberg to seeing pop-up activations come to life, I’ve learned so much. Here are my key takeaways from this first month at L'Oreal. 1. Take risks! ⚠️ David Greenberg was admirable during his time with interns. Not only did he take the time to ask us how we were doing, but he gave us valuable advice. One thing that stuck with me was his advice to take risks! We can’t create beauty that moves the world if we don’t take risks! 2. Be a sponge! 🧽 I have been soaking up every last drop of knowledge this month. It’s been such a privilege to see visions come to life and understand what procedures are in place to execute these beautiful projects. Being a sponge hasn’t stopped at the office doors! I’ve learned how to look at all marketing differently and take the world around me as a giant masterclass. 3. Be authentic! 😁 What I’ve valued most from my time here is the celebration of authenticity in the corporate environment. I have been able to feel like myself and have authentic relationships with my team and beyond. L’Oreal as a company is also authentic to its core! Volunteer Day is a prime example of how this company practices what they preach; cherishing giving back to the community and reminding everyone how important that is! My first month is only the beginning of the best journey with the #1 beauty tech company in the world and I can’t wait to walk along my path with you all!" Congratulations to Melany and we hope she continues to enjoy her summer! #2024lorealusaintern #lorealusa #createbeautythatmovestheworld #MyPeopleMyPurpose

  • Summer incoming... 🏖 ☀ We are so excited to have wrapped up another incredible year with our amazing Wibbies! Whether it was your first year, your last, or somewhere in between, we are so thankful to have been a part of your college journey this year. Looking back on the last three quarters, we've accomplished so much with our members this year and we'd love to quickly recap what we've been up to: 🍁 Fall Quarter: We had LOTS of new wibbies joining to kick off the new school year! To give our new members a taste of what the business world looks like, we hosted a bunch of introductory professional development workshops (resume building, networking, etc.). Of course, our members were also able to meet each other and make new friends from social bonding events like sunset yoga and tote bag painting! ❄ Winter Quarter Through many weeks of planning and reaching out to speakers, our main objective for winter quarter was to host industry specific spotlights for different industries that our members expressed interest in. We hosted about 30 speakers over the course of the quarter, and we loved networking and meeting so many incredible professionals that were so kind to share their insights and experiences. Additionally, we launched our mentorship program, where experienced Wibbies matched up with other Wibbies seeking professional mentorship. 🌸 Spring Quarter Last but not least, this spring quarter we launched our first ever quarter-long Case Project (55+ signups, 25 total teams!) to give our members more hands on experience with business frameworks. Outside of this, we hosted more professional development opportunities through panels, workshops, DEI initiatives and more. Lastly, we recently hosted our EOY Banquet, where our incredible presidents Samantha McCue and Lauren Roush officially handed off the torch to the amazing Melany Mihai and Lena Chen, who will be leading WIB next year. Although it is definitely bittersweet to have to say goodbye to a year full of growth and learning, we are more than ecstatic to continue sharing what we'll be getting up to next year when the time comes! Thank you to all of our members who have been so engaged throughout the whole year and have really made WIB into the unbelievable, supportive community that it is today. 💖 🥂 Congratulations to our graduating Wibbies, we are so proud of you all and excited to see what you get up to as you enter the next chapter of your life! And to all of our returning or prospective members, have an AMAZING summer and we can't wait to see you in the fall! Love, 2023-24 WIB Board ❤️

What are your thoughts on the rapid rise of AI and its impact on major tech giants like Google? I just wrapped up an incredible 6-week project, diving into THIS very topic! My team and I dived into a case study about the future of Google’s search business amidst the surge of AI technologies and growing competition. 🤖💡 We conducted extensive market and industry research, defined Google’s current position using SWOT anaylsis, developed data-driven recommendations, and utilized Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of our proposed strategies. 📈 At the end of the project, we had the opportunity to present our findings. 🌟 A huge shoutout to my team — Sarah Matus, Faith Tsui, and Anahi Aguilar De Anda — Our teamwork was unmatched and it was such a fun experience! ❤️ A big thank you to UC Santa Barbara Women in Business for giving me this opportunity and providing such a supportive environment for me to learn and grow. 😇

  • What have we been up to in the last few weeks? ⬇️ 💰Equipt Women CEO Kelly Mooney and Digital Programs Director Romi Benasuly graced us with their tips on taking ownership over your life and tips to keep in mind to lead a successful professional and personal career. Huge thank you to both of you for coming out to UCSB and bestowing your wisdom on us! 👩💼 Last week, we hosted a DEI Panel on Cultivating Social Impact in Today's Workforce. Thank you so much to our speakers Candace Joy Rucker, M.S., Erika C., Farah Charisse V., and Leah Lilinoe Domantay for speaking on your experiences and empowering our members to seek ways to cultivate social impact as we move forward in our professional and personal lives! 🎨 We hosted 2 socials - Manifestation boards at sunset and also a little crafts social to relax, unwind, and make some new friends! This Thursday, we're starting to wrap up the quarter with a dinner social at Woodstocks from 6:30-7:30pm! Be sure to come out and feel free to bring a friend! • We ❤️ our Gaucho alumni! We just wrapped up a fantastic weekend filled with amazing opportunities to reconnect with alumni. 🥗 On Friday, we heard Maya Rupert's incredible stories and advice at our Alumni Luncheon, and we all left feeling incredibly inspired and motivated. Special thanks to Samantha Putnam and Al Yuen as well for inviting us to UCSB's Alumni Awards Dinner to reconnect with old faces and forge new friendships! 🌅 To take a second to relax after such an eventful weekend, we'll be hosting a Manifestation Boards and Sunset social TOMORROW (4/23) from 6:30-7:30pm on the commencement lawn (the lawn next to the San Rafael staircases that lead to the lagoon). Come out to reflect, brainstorm and share your goals and what you want to achieve as we've settled into the last quarter of the year. 👩💼 Looking forward to the week after, we'll be meeting at Henley Hall 1010 from 6:30-7:30 on Thursday, (5/2) to hear from CEO Kelly Mooney and Digital Programs Manager (and Gaucho) Romi Benasuly from Equipt Women! We'll be talking about empowering women in their careers and the steps you can take to take ownership over your career. Mark your calendars for these 2 events coming up, and we'll see you there! Shoutout once again to our lovely Gaucho and WIB alumni, miss you all!

  • Yesterday we wrapped up our last (but certainly not least) industry spotlight panel! 🎉 Thank you so much to Joseph Grib, Steve Hess, and Joseph Ford, Esq. for coming out to Santa Barbara and sharing your journey into law with us! For our wibbies who are aiming for law school, your words served as motivation and encouragement, and perhaps even inspired some to pursue a path in law. 💻 We'd also like to bring attention to a Gauchos in Tech conference happening this Saturday at 9am at Henley Hall, where StartUC will also officially launch. The flyer is attached below, so if you're interested in pursuing tech definitely add this event to your calendar! The panelists are really impressive and they'll have a lot to share. Again, thank you so much to everyone who came out to our panels, we hope that you guys had a good time, learned a lot, and made some new connections! We have more events coming up for the rest of the quarter, so be sure to keep an eye on your inbox ❤️
