About us

The mission of the Women in Technology of Charlotte (WIT CLT) is to create a community, for women with careers already in technology, to grow together through networking, collaboration, connection, mentorship, and professional development. We are also focused on increasing the numbers of women in Technology. This happens through our Certification & Education programs, as well as reaching our boys and girls with awareness and education on what Technology is and why they should choose careers in those areas. Our Girls in Tech program is focused on the awareness, education, and development of students, ages 12-18.

Our hearts go out to all those affected by the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. This disaster has deeply impacted our community, leaving many in critical need of support. Now, more than ever, is the time for us to come together to help in any way we can. For the next two weeks (10/6-10/20), we will be donating 100% of our proceeds to the American Red Cross disaster recovery efforts. For those looking to give directly or get involved, we have included additional vetted nonprofit organizations below. In addition, during our Quarterly Summit in November, we will be collecting supplies to further support relief efforts. Stay tuned for more details as we approach the event. In times like these, the community is everything. Together, we can make a difference and support our neighbors. 💙❤️🤍   ●     American Red Cross ●     Water Mission ●     Samaritan’s Purse ●     Diaper Bank of North Carolina ●     BeLoved Asheville

Sr Cybersecurity IAM Analyst | Latinas in Tech NC Chapter | Women+ in Technology of Charlotte 👩🏼💻

I had the honor of being profiled on illumination - Duke Energy’s external storytelling site. My story was published today just in time as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month - que orgullo! 🇲🇽🫶🏻 I'm feeling incredibly honored to be featured in this article written by Michael J. Solender, highlighting my journey as a Latina in tech and my passion for giving back to the community. As someone born in Sinaloa, Mexico, I’m especially proud to share my story during Hispanic Heritage Month. This is a time to celebrate our rich culture, history, and the incredible contributions of the Hispanic community. It’s funny—while reading the article, I was enjoying a tostada de tinga with Banda playing in the background. If you know, you know! 😄 It's been an amazing experience working with Latinas in Tech North Carolina (I am no longer on the leadership team but please still reach out to this amazing chapter!) and Women+ in Technology of Charlotte, empowering women and underrepresented groups in our industry. Grateful for the opportunity to give back and help pave the way for others. Thank you to Gina DiPietro and Shawna Berger, APR for working with me to make it all happen ❤️ Check out the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gPRiagdr #WomenInTech #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinasInTech #ProudMexicana #DiversityInTech #OrgulloHispano

Charlotte ISSA Events for September and October! Hello Everyone! We have quite a bit going on and used the month of August to retool several things including our event communication application to improve our tie to market for events! Please see upcoming event details below and be sure to make use of the upcoming opportunities for CPE’s! September 25th Monthly Meeting: We will be hosting our September monthly meeting at EKOS Software, please plan to attend and use the registration Link below! Speaker 1: John Thounhurst - Solutions Engineer at Tenable! Everyone is busy, and every month 1000+ new Vulnerabilities drop onto your plate - along with the churn of every Patch Tuesday. Not to mention that newer CVSS Scoring methods drop the majority of vulnerabilities into Critical and High Severity buckets, which makes it harder to prioritize remediation efforts. This is why it is critical to move away from static CVSS scoring & counting vulnerabilities and instead focus on the worst-of-the-worst vulnerabilities first - especially on your Crown Jewel assets. We will walk you through how to accomplish this to build a Center of Excellence for your own Attack Surface Management Program. Speaker 2: Bhavin Patel,Manager of Information Security and Compliance, Tevora! ISO42001Compliance, As the manager dedicated to Tevora’s ISO tower, Bhavin Patel helps organizations align their security, privacy, business continuity, disaster recovery, and artificial intelligence programs with their business and compliance objectives. Register Here: https://lnkd.in/e2a9Hiez 25th Annual Charlotte UNCC Cybersymposium, October 22 & 23: Charlotte ISSA partnered with UNCC in 2020 to contribute to the program and co-host the event! Charlotte ISSA has also provided several of our hands on workshops for the event and we will be sponsoring the reception following training October 22nd! Register Here: https://lnkd.in/eSrBuJZe *Please note that this is Charlotte ISSA member pre-registration, we will share the final registrations with UNCC before the event!* Also ISSA is releasing discounts for new and existing memberships beginning October 1st, we don’t know the details yet, but will post once available!
