Everyone announcing their deals surrounding NBA broadcasts but what does it all mean? TNT - Out of the picture after the 2024-25 season, pending a potential lawsuit. ESPN - Reduced number of regular season games, from around 100 to approx. 80. Games will air on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays during the NFL season, then add Friday night action after the NFL season ends. NBC - Primetime games on Tuesdays + "exclusive telecasts" on Peacock, on Mondays. Additionally, playoff games and alternate Conference Finals broadcasts with Amazon or TNT. Amazon - Thursday night Primetime games plus some Friday and Saturday games. All three platforms will have playoff games, but ESPN/ABC will keep the Conference Finals and NBA Finals.

The landscape of changing award shows...
With the success of the SAG Awards on Netflix, we predict a trend over the next 12-24 months of more streamers picking up award shows. But will the financials work for both sides and will consumers tune-in for live events or be willing to watch after the fact when the news of who has won is already known? The biggest draw for consumers will be the reduced length of the shows, without the traditional commercial breaks. Second biggest draw will be the level of talent playing host, vs. whoever the broadcast network has on their late night lineup (e.g. not anyone who Gen Z cares about). Seems like the talent is already happy about being able to swear so that's already resolved. More to come on the subject but we're excited about the opportunity to take a beloved part of Hollywood and refresh the format.
