The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) ushered in significant changes to the Federal tax code. Business and individual tax filers have likely become familiar with many of the TCJA’s changes in recent years. Some of the more notable provisions affecting filers were lower marginal tax rates, an increase in the standard deduction, and limits to deductions for state and local taxes. In the absence of an extension of this legislation, provisions of the TCJA related to the estate exemption are set to expire on December 31, 2025. Given the potential lapse of today’s historically high exemptions, we wanted to explain how this sunset could impact individuals and families planning to pass on significant wealth to their heirs and offer some planning considerations. #estateplanning #financialplanning https://lnkd.in/emiC5sd5

We love publishing our July market commentary. The timing reminds us that the summer is still young. It also provides an opportunity to celebrate our nation’s independence, honor the sacrifices that have sustained us, and recognize the foundations our framers put in place to “form a more perfect union.” We’ll discuss some of those foundations in this commentary. This seems fitting at a time when so many clients of all political persuasions cite politics as investment risk factor number one. #investmentmanagement #wealthmanagement #marketcommentary https://lnkd.in/eDNgZRbb

Momentum is a powerful thing – in life, sports (just ask March Madness opponents of N.C. State’s men’s and women’s teams), and the financial markets. Fortunately for investors, the stock market momentum from last year’s “magnificent” rebound and fourth quarter rally carried into the first quarter. Quite frankly, with the S&P 500 posting its best quarter since 2019, and one of the best in 20 years, the extent of the rally shocked even the most bullish market prognosticators. #marketcommentary #investmentmanagement #financialplanning https://lnkd.in/gfZGP2e8
