Airports are some of the most wasteful, polluting, and stressful places on Earth —yet we keep building them the same way. But what if an airport could do more than just move people? What if it could reconnect us with nature? Welcome to the world’s first Nature Based Airport, designed by BIOTONOMY — a game-changing step toward sustainable aviation. Why does this matter? Airports consume massive amounts of energy and water, while polluting the air and surrounding environment. Yet, they are designed to be cold, lifeless, and stressful. This one is different. It produces energy, harvests, and recycles water, and It feels like walking through a forest—a one-of-a-kind experience. What makes it different? ✅ Green Infrastructure – Nature Based Solutions are everywhere. Green Roofs and green Walls keep the airport cool and reduce energy use. ✅ 100% Wastewater Recycling – Every drop of water is reused for nurturing thriving ecosystems. No waste, no pollution. ✅ Powered by Nature – Solar and wind energy keep the airport running with minimal impact. ✅ Wildlife-Friendly – Designed to protect and support nature instead of pushing it away. This is more than an airport - It’s proof that we can build big without destroying nature. A huge thank you to our bold clients and visionary investors who believe in this mission and are making it a reality. This first-of-its-kind airport will be built in the Pacific, setting a new standard for sustainable travel. More details coming soon—stay tuned. #Biotonomy #Sustainable #NatureBasedSolutions

We finally (www.wepfair.com) carried out the first trial with our energy green roof mowing robot on our Mattenbach test site in Winterthur with scientists from the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). A small but important step towards making biosolarroofs much cheaper and allowing more biodiversity to thrive sustainably😉 #zhaw #innosuisse #solarspar #biosolar #wepfair

🌿 Green Roof Innovation in Melbourne! 🌿 The Victorian Government have partnered with the City of Melbourne, Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and the Department of Transport and Planning to deliver a demonstration retrofit green roof at 1 Treasury Place. Evergreen Infrastructure was commissioned to build this beautiful green roof in the heart of Melbourne, working alongside our colleagues at Hassell and University of Melbourne, Superbloom and Harris HMC and SEMZ . This project showcases the benefits of green roofs through industry-led research, testing different systems, planting mixes, installation methods, and maintenance approaches—alongside a cost analysis. This initiative provides a crucial case study for developers, landlords, and the construction industry, helping to bridge knowledge gaps and overcome barriers to green roof adoption. By strengthening the case for more green roofs, this project supports a greener, more climate-resilient Melbourne and southeastern Australia. I couldn't be more proud working alongside a city council and so many committed people that are so passionate about greening our wonderful city. Greenroofs are a vital inclusion in our cities are bring so many environmental, economic and social benefits. A huge thanks to the dedicated people behind the scenes who ensured this build ran to plan and provided vital support throughout the build. Today we celebrate a big mile stone for the Green our Rooftop project with the completed green roof on 1 Treasury Place finally getting a media announcement. :) This project has been completed by the Victorian Government as a joint initiative between the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action, Department of Transport and Planning and the City of Melbourne. The project has been the cumulation of almost 8 years of work from multiple staff members across City of Melbourne and State Government as well as two external design teams, this milestone is a huge achievement for all involved. We now look to publish a case study and a benefits assessment on the green roof to demonstrate how other property owners and developers can retrofit their building with a cost effective green roof. Further information on the project can be found at https://lnkd.in/geuPVyyb. A massive thank you to everyone involved over the years, this project would not have been possible with out your dedication, leadership and aspirational vision. A new canteen in Italy’s renowned Food Valley integrates sustainability with the surrounding landscape. The project features a green roof formed using excavated earth, a process that involved removing a section of the site’s terrain and elevating it above ground level. Nestled in the idyllic countryside of Parma, the Mutti Canteen by Carlo Ratti Associati sits within the production grounds of one of Italy’s most iconic food brands—the family-owned tomato empire, Mutti.
