  • The biggest challenge in a recruitment business is to get your teams to replicate doing what's been proven to be successful in your business. As owners or leaders, we need to be constantly learning and exploring what are some new ways we might go about achieving things even more effectively. But, whatever is "the way" of doing things that generates the greatest results, that then needs to become the way that the whole business operates. And that's a challenge, in modest-sized businesses let alone larger ones! Hope this short video is a help with this - and, as always, would welcome your thoughts in the comments... #RecruitingTips #RecruitmentAdvice #Training

  • Tire-kicker or serious jobseeker?     When you're a small business, the last thing you want is to waste time and resources on candidates who aren't serious about their career or changing roles.     Except, how are you supposed to know immediately if a candidate means what they say?    For the most part, this awareness will come with time and experience.     But, for now, we've compiled a list of 5 red flags to look out for in early conversations with potential candidates...    🚩 If a candidate has been in their current position for a year or less, you'll want to find out what's not working and explore whether they've made any efforts to correct or improve the situation before looking to jump ship.    🚩 If a candidate consistently changes jobs—like the above—this requires further exploration into why they're changing jobs so frequently and whether any effort is being made to make these jobs work.     🚩 If a candidate is reluctant or hesitant to provide any references – if this happens, you'll want to find out why and try to find a compromise while also respecting their confidentiality.     🚩 If a candidate has unrealistic expectations of their next move - if someone is looking to jump two or three steps in their career, you'll want to understand how they're justifying this move and what evidence there is to support their capabilities and suitability.     🚩 If a candidate is hard to pin down – if a candidate takes a long time to answer calls, emails, or texts, doesn't send over documents when they say they will or regularly goes dark on you, it can be a clear sign they aren't taking the recruitment process seriously.     There are nuances and exceptions to each of these red flags. But if you have candidates who are displaying any of these behaviors, it'll be in your best interest to proceed with extra caution.     Want to dive deeper? • What should recruitment business owners have their teams focus on to thrive right now? Here are a few thoughts: ✅ You have to market every day (and most 360 recruiters don't like to do this!) ✅ You've got to be getting regular market intel, learn something from every call you make! ✅ Your team have to believe that your clients really need you to make the hires they need. Doubting this really hurts your results ✅ You have to be tracking key metrics - and diagnosing some of the issues that are arising that are impacting your firm's performance. What are some of the mistakes that recruitment businesses have made in previous downturns... that we're now seeing being made again today? How about: 🔴 Relying on existing clients too much for new business. 🔴 Forgeting how to market the business, or haven't been investing enough in that activity to counter the effects of any downturn. 🔴 Not enough attention being paid to the signs of an impending downturn, meaning many recruitment businesses are too slow to react. 🔴 Many recruiters having lost the art of pitching and getting an employer excited about the difference that you as a recruiter could make to their business and its future success. Have a watch of this short recording and it should really give you some food for thought to ensure you have a better year ahead. #Staffing #Headhunting #ExecutiveSearch
