The first soil nail wall was built in 1972 in Versailles, France, to stabilize a 60-foot deep excavation for a railroad widening project. A soil nail wall is a geotechnical construction technique that uses soil nails to stabilize slopes, retaining walls, and excavations. Soil nails are reinforcing elements, usually threaded steel bars, that are installed into the ground at specific angles, depths, and spacings to counteract external forces and prevent slope failure. Call Wurster Engineering & Construction for an evaluation and solution, Geotechnical specialist in the Southeast since 1997. 1-864-627-7751 #soilnailwalls #slopestabilization #geotechnicalengineering

Don’t compromise on stability! Helical piers or piles are deep foundational elements that use compression or tension to transfer and resist vertical and horizontal loads. During installation, helicals are embedded deep into the ground to support the weight of the structure. Are you seeing signs of foundation failure? Call Wurster Engineering & Construction for an assessment and recommendation. 1-864-627-7751.

That's us blushing. #GreenvilleSC is featured in The Economist this week. Our entrepreneurs and our City are highlighted in the article, "America is in the midst of an extraordinary startup boom. How the country revived its go-getting spirit." The international magazine, headquartered in London, found Greenville through its U.S Economics Editor. Simon Rabinovitch flew in on a beautiful day last week. While sitting in Falls Park, he spoke with the founders of Incora Health about their women's health-tracking earrings that are currently in clinical trials. He interviewed the founder of Supermoon while walking the trail and lunching at the Commons. Rabinovitch stopped by City Hall to chat with Mayor Knox White about how Greenville has become more than a tourist destination. He also met with our economic development partners including Village Launch, The Hill Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Furman University and NextGEN. Here's one of our favorite sections from the article, but we've linked it below if you want to read the whole thing. (Because it talks A LOT about Greenville) "Traditionally, American innovation has been focused in California’s Bay Area and urban dynamos such as Austin and New York. The new wave has fanned out to smaller cities around the country, from Boise to Raleigh. Greenville is another example. Better known for its genteel pace and walkable downtown than a striving business culture, it is an unlikely candidate to be a cradle of entrepreneurship. In the past few years, though, its livability has been a selling point, as remote work has taken off. Smallness can also be an advantage." https://lnkd.in/e5S_U2JA Thanks, Simon Rabinovitch for trusting us when we said, you gotta be in Greenville to get Greenville. Thanks, Bob King Landscapes for the new photo of our beautiful city.

Wurster Engineering and Construction, along with many of its clients and colleagues, recently celebrated its founder upon his retirement. Twenty-six years ago, Daryl Wurster had a dream of starting his own firm to serve customers in the Upstate of South Carolina, and today that company now meets the geostructural needs of clients throughout the southeast. It is with the deepest gratitude and appreciation that the company extends its best wishes to Daryl for his many years of leadership and for the ongoing success the company continues to enjoy.
