Did you know? Wyman's Teen Outreach Program celebrates teenagers and supports their growth and development. In the words of our teens, it’s “a place to talk about things teens need to know,” “a place to be yourself” and an opportunity to “have fun while we learn about ourselves.” It also creates an environment that helps teens develop important social-emotional skills, engage with their communities, and develop the confidence to build healthy, authentic connections and relationships with those around them. Read our blog to learn more about TOP and how it is helping students create powerful connections and learn to advocate for themselves and their peers. https://loom.ly/mni1LLg #TeenOutreachProgram #WymanTOP #ElevateConnections #MadetoConnect

Wyman’s Teen Connection Project is helping teens develop positive, healthy relationships with their peers. TCP’s evidence-based curriculum helps teens build communication, decision-making, and coping skills and lays the foundation for healthy interactions and conflict resolution. Participants report moderate to high levels of social-emotional skills, like communication and empathy. And what they’re learning in TCP is helping at home and in the community! To get more info about Wyman’s TCP, visit https://lnkd.in/gRR9MeCX. And share with your friends to bring awareness to the need for youth connection! #Wyman #WymanTCP #MadeToConnect #Amplify #Elevate

At Wyman, we support teens as they build positive, healthy, and lasting connections with their peers. In one of our TOP lessons, “Bullying: Becoming an Upstander,” which was adapted with permission from the National School Climate Center , teens learn about bullying and standing up to do what is right, even if no one else is. “In this lesson, teens talk about bullying, empathy, and the idea of becoming an upstander, not a bystander,” says Annie Philipps, Wyman’s National Network Director of the Teen Outreach Program. To learn more about how Wyman is combatting bullying by building healthy connections and to access a list of helpful resources, visit https://lnkd.in/d-HuEprm. #WymanTCP #WymanTOP #MadeToConnect #Amplify #Elevate #Expand

This spring we had the opportunity to get to know several Wyman teens, alumni, and staff – and their Wyman stories. And we want to you to get to know them too! Meet Raven! Raven joined Wyman Leaders when she was in high school. She enjoyed her experiences at Wyman so much, that after she graduated from high school in 2021 she decided to return as a Group Leader during the summers. Raven learned a lot during her time with Wyman, specifically around leadership skills, making connections, and how to use her voice. But she also felt supported along her educational journey. “Wyman has really been a big help with school. Anything I need, any questions, any resources – they are always open. They help me in any way possible to get through school.” Currently, Raven is a 6th grade teacher and just started school to become a certified teacher. “I love being a 6th grade teacher, especially in the school district that I’m in. I can relate to the students so much. Once you build a rapport with them, they’re going to listen and understand what you are asking them to do. I take what I learned at Wyman and use it in my classroom.” Read more inspiring Wyman stories at https://lnkd.in/eqt2gGUz or click the link in bio. #WymanTeensWill #MakeConnections #Wyman #AmplifyYouthVoices #Elevate #Amplify

This spring we had the opportunity to get to know several Wyman teens, alumni, and staff – and their Wyman stories. And we want to you to get to know them too! Meet Kristin! Kristin is the Postsecondary Programming Coordinator (3rd and 4th Year) for @wymanleaders. She joined Wyman as a practicum student while finishing her social work degree at @umsl, and then joined the Wyman Leaders team full-time. She’s been working with the persistence programming since 2019. “I always had a strong desire for the persistence side because I had such a rocky road when I was going through college. I was a first-generation college student; I didn’t know what I didn’t know. I was just digging in the dark trying to figure it out on my own. I’m really excited to be in this role and be able to do this for these students because I went through the same thing.” In her role as Postsecondary Programming Coordinator, Kristin works closely with Wyman Leaders persistence students and provides them with the support they need while completing their higher education. “College access is a big deal for a lot of organizations. But then the students get there, and there are still a lot of obstacles. I hope my impact is that I’m supporting them from that point. My hope is that they graduate with a degree. I want them to know that is possible. You matter; your education matters.” Read more inspiring Wyman stories at https://lnkd.in/eqt2gGUz or click the link in bio. #Wyman #AmplifyYouthVoice #ElevateYoungVoices #MakeConnections #Connect #WymanLeaders

This spring we had the opportunity to get to know several Wyman teens, alumni, and staff – and their Wyman stories. And we want you to get to know them too! Meet Drea! Drea first joined Wyman as part of the Teen Outreach Program in 6th grade, and she enjoyed TOP so much that she applied for and was accepted into Wyman Leaders. Drea has a lot of great Wyman memories, but one thing she really values are the relationships she built with her coaches. “Wyman is a different type of family. With my coaches, I can call them whenever. If I need a recommendation or something, I know they’ll come through.” This past spring, Drea graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with her bachelor’s in corporate communication and a double minor in management and marketing. Now, she is working toward her master’s in higher education at SEMO and accepted a graduate assistant position as a Hall Director. “I use the skills I learned with Wyman every day, especially communication and leadership skills. I’m most definitely a leader in every room I walk in.” Read more inspiring Wyman stories at https://lnkd.in/eqt2gGUz or click the link in our bio. #Wyman #WymanTeensWill #SEMO #Amplify #Connection #ElevateYouthVoices
