About us
Established in 2018, xCures is a pioneer in healthcare data management. Our primary focus is on achieving data completeness and providing real-time data access. We gather and standardize detailed medical records from various healthcare sources, utilizing direct retrieval from US institutions, patient portals, and electronic health exchanges. The collected data is digitized, organized, and examined using Natural Language Processing to efficiently identify features, resulting in a comprehensive longitudinal patient journey that covers everything from genomics to social determinants of health. We have processed over 140 million records from thousands of different medical practices and implemented our technology for a significant number of patients. All the collected data elements are thoroughly annotated in a central Electronic Data Capture (EDC) system to ensure standardization and ongoing accuracy. Through a range of tools and products, xCures offers clinically actionable, real-time insights that support the care of patients, providers, and partners. Virtual health is at a crossroads, as consumer demand continues to grow, but many health systems struggle to keep up. Deloitte’s 2024 survey shows 94% of patients who’ve tried virtual care are willing to continue using it, yet the use of these services has plateaued. A staggering 24% of consumers would even switch doctors to ensure access to virtual health. Interestingly, millennials and Gen Z are driving this shift, with 43% and 33%, respectively, willing to change providers for virtual options. Health systems need to prioritize flexibility and convenience to avoid losing patients. Executives, however, seem hesitant to invest. 18% have reduced virtual offerings since 2022, often due to concerns over reimbursement and clinician resistance. But with rising patient expectations, organizations risk falling behind. The data is clear: meeting virtual health demand is not only about staying relevant, but also a strategic move to increase profitability through new staffing models and expanded access. The integrity of data in AI is non-negotiable. Poor-quality data leads to unreliable results, no matter how advanced the model. This "garbage in, garbage out" principle shows why organizations need a robust data management framework. A structured approach—like a data lake or warehouse—ensures AI models are built on reliable foundations. Biases in AI go beyond demographics; they can even be numerical. For instance, a model trained on narrow datasets won’t perform well across diverse contexts, risking ethical and operational issues. Involving subject matter experts (SMEs) is crucial. While data engineers can process data, SMEs provide context, ensuring it’s accurately interpreted and applied. Without them, models risk producing suboptimal outcomes. As AI systems become more complex, cybersecurity vulnerabilities grow. Attackers can exploit biases in models, creating new threats. To reduce these risks, it’s essential to filter and manage data carefully. We would love to hear how others are addressing bias and quality concerns. Comments anybody? The future of digital mental health lies in 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭-𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 design. 🌐 Mental health data collection is growing rapidly, but how often do we think about user consent? A consent-forward paradigm ensures that individuals not only know how their data is used but have control over it. This approach could strengthen trust between users and providers, leading to safer and more effective care. To fortify consent, robust security practices are essential. Techniques like differential privacy, federated learning, and end-to-end encryption protect sensitive mental health data, ensuring that individual data remains secure while large-scale analyses offer valuable insights. These security measures give users peace of mind, knowing their privacy is a priority. By prioritizing 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭, we allow users to actively participate in how their sensitive data is handled, which is crucial for mental health care. It’s time to shift towards tools that prioritize user safety over data monetization. Interoperability between payers is key to healthcare’s future. The Sequoia Project’s Payer-to-Payer FHIR® API Workgroup is tackling this challenge by helping payers exchange patient data using the HL7® Da Vinci and CARIN frameworks. By January 1, 2027, CMS requires payers to implement a Payer-to-Payer API for sharing claims and encounter data, ensuring patients have continued access to their records when changing insurers. Patients will also have the option to opt-in, enhancing care continuity. Do you think organizations can/will adapt to this CMS mandate? 96% of hospitals and 78% of physician offices use certified EHRs, so data sharing should be seamless... Unfortunately, barriers like information blocking still slow us down. The 21st Century Cures Act mandates that APIs must enable data to be accessed and exchanged without barriers, and that’s where progress needs to happen. How can we ensure that certified API technologies are usable, accessible, and compliant with regulations? It’s time for healthcare organizations to prioritize transparency and ease of access. Ensuring API accessibility benefits patients, providers, and third-party developers alike, fostering a more connected and efficient healthcare system.
