While in Zambia last week, Ms Aleta Musvoto, YALI Regional Coordinator and Dr. Felicia Wilson Young, Director of Education, Youth, and the Young African Leaders Initiative at USAID Southern Africa, visited Afrikaada Teethsavers. They engaged in meaningful conversation with Sydney Ngandu, a YALI alumnus and the founder of Afrikaada, discussing the organization's achievements, potential, and obstacles, offering valuable insights for business growth and making a difference. Ms. Musvoto and Dr. Wilson Young were impressed by the passion and dedication of Sydney towards improving dental health in Lusaka, Zambia. They were inspired by the innovative approaches being implemented by Afrikaada in providing accessible dental care to underserved communities, especially children. During the visit, they were introduced to part of the team of skilled professionals who volunteers their time to making a positive impact on the community. Ms. Aleta and Dr. Wilson Young were particularly interested in the sustainability initiatives being carried out by Afrikaada, such as community outreach programs, and educational workshops on oral hygiene. The conversation delved into the importance of collaboration and partnerships in driving social impact and creating lasting change. They discussed strategies for scaling up Afrikaada's operations, reaching more people in need, and fostering a culture of health and wellness in Zambia through creating other funding sources. Before bidding farewell, Ms. Aleta and Dr. Wilson Young expressed their admiration for the work being done at Afrikaada Teethsavers and pledged their continued support in empowering young leaders like Sydney Ngandu to drive positive change in their communities. The visit served as a testament to the power of innovation, dedication, and collaboration in shaping a brighter future for all.

We hosted another successful  Innovation Challenge in Zambia last week with participation from YALI RLC SA alumni from Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
