Celebrating and honoring our 2024 Youth Changemaker Award Honoree, Ariav Misra! 🤩 As Chair of the Mt. Madonna YMCA Youth Board, Ariav enhanced our mission by launching the YMCA Youth Ambassadors Program at Mt. Madonna YMCA. His innovative leadership empowered youth voices and strengthened community engagement by addressing key gaps, such as: engaging teens in leadership roles focused on Youth Development and Social Responsibility; educating teens on Mental Health resources and public speaking; and providing workshops and events to foster professionalism and leadership. Congratulations to our 2024 John D. Crummey Red Triangle Award Honoree, Kathy Riggins! 🥳 After an impactful career with the YMCA, Kathy Riggins retired in 2016 as CEO of the YMCA of Silicon Valley. She often said, "It takes a team of visionary volunteers and exceptional staff to accomplish our dreams!" True to her words, Kathy immediately became an exemplary volunteer. She has since raised $750,000 for the Y's Community Campaign and now serves as Co-Chair of the $75 million campaign to build a new YMCA in Redwood City. Additionally, she is tri-chairing a multi-million-dollar effort to renovate the Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA in Encinitas, where her YMCA journey first began. 🫶 Learn more about the Red Triangle Dinner here 🔗⮑ https://lnkd.in/gSgnPpJz

Spring cleaning arrived early this year! A heartfelt thank you to ServiceNow for their generous grant and dedicated volunteers who helped beautify Oak Avenue Elementary School in Los Altos 🤗❤️ The Beautification Project included cleaning outdoor toys and classroom furniture, planting flowers, and power washing the building, leaving the site fresh and inviting just in time for fall 🍂 The YMCA of Silicon Valley runs the Before and After School Enrichment Programs and Summer Reading Program on site, making this transformation even more impactful for the community 🙂↕️

Thank you again for stopping by! 🫶
The Y kept me out of trouble as a kid, and now, it’s doing the same thing for the next generation of San Joseans — for free! I got a tour today from some of the teens who are taking advantage of the free summer programming at all 9 YMCA of Silicon Valley locations. They crushed me in basketball, asked me their toughest questions and showed me the many faculties and classes they have to choose from. It’s not too late to get in on the fun! Mayor Matt Mahan has fond childhood memories at the YMCA. "The Y had a big impact on my childhood. It was a place I could be safe, have fun and be myself." Mayor Matt Mahan stopped by the Y to meet the teens utilizing the Get Summer program which offers free teen membership in the summer. The Mayor took some time to play basketball with the teens and had a Q&A session. Thank you Mayor Matt Mahan for stopping by!
