All kids in California, across every one of its 58 counties, deserve the chance to reach their full potential with no limitations. To achieve that goal, today we released the 2025 California County Scorecard of Children’s Well-Being. 🙌 🙌 An interactive tool that gives a comprehensive picture of kids’ health, education, and welfare in every California county, the Scorecard shines a light on where kids are thriving and struggling at the local level, and offers a roadmap for how we can better support all kids across our state. See how kids are faring in your county at https://bit.ly/3PLLag1 (part of the new ChildrenNow.org). #ProKidCA #CAKidsScorecard

We deliver uplifting and lasting change for California’s kids by connecting people and policy.
About us
Our kids deserve a future where they can reach their full potential with no limitations. One with accessible health and child care, high-quality education, strong mental health services, and equity across all institutions. But too often, efforts to achieve these goals are too disconnected to demand policymakers’ attention, and kids are not prioritized when critical decisions are made. Led by our experienced policy and government relations teams spanning health, education, early childhood, child welfare, and a range of other areas, we learn from kids and families where they need support and lift up solutions to policymakers with the power to act. Then by coordinating collective action campaigns that unify the many voices in support of kids into one powerful message, we get policy change enacted and implemented effectively – and improve the lives of California’s kids.

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program has been a significant investment in kids' education across California - nearly $14 billion over the past few years alone. These funds also work to prioritize equity, with more dollars sent to schools with more high-needs students. 👏 Yet in order to ensure kids are getting the support they need, we can improve reporting on how these funds are allocated and spent. 🎒📚 We invite you to read our latest research brief (in two parts) on how California can improve ELO-P and lift up more students across the state👇 "Follow the Money" - Part 1: https://lnkd.in/giHziMtn "Follow the Money" - Part 2: https://lnkd.in/gX66ewTj #CaliforniaEducation #EducationMatters #StudentSuccess

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the 2 million women who make up the Early Care and Education workforce, many of whom are women of color and immigrants. 🙌 These educators provide critical early learning experiences that shape kids' futures, fostering curiosity, emotional resilience, and foundational skills that support lifelong success. Yet despite their critical role, many struggle with low wages, career advancement, and burnout due to demanding work conditions. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s continually lift up Early Care and Education workers and advocate for better wages, support, and career pathways. 💪 Learn more about the amazing work early childhood home visitors do and how California can better support them in our recent "A Statewide Approach to Strengthen Home Visiting in California" report, here 👉 https://bit.ly/46ifbKM #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInECE #SupportECE #EquityInEducation

In today’s deeply upsetting political climate, I am so grateful for the incredible people I get to work with everyday - who are doing the hard work on the ground to keep services and systems running while fighting against hateful rhetoric, policies and decisions that devalue what we know is incredibly important to children, families, communities, the economy and our collective future. They give me the hope, strength and strategies we need to fight back when cynicism or overwhelm try to take hold. There are also so many incredibly smart, caring and passionate young professionals all over DC who are working hard every day to fight back, who listen to all our concerns, data points and experiences to support their members ability to push back. The antidote to anxiety is action. Special thanks to all the partners who made this happen including Donna Sneeringer, Patrick MacFarlane Humberto M. "If Kennedy Jr.'s debunked beliefs on fluoride turn to actions, it could pour fuel on the already dangerous situation concerning the oral health of California’s kids." We invite you to read Eileen Espejo's op-ed in today's The San Diego Union-Tribune on the proven results fluoride has shown improving kids' teeth, and how new secretary of HHS Robert F. Kennedy Jr. could threaten kids' oral health in California, here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gS4vZfpp The “Respecting Fluoride for Kids Act,” introduced by Asm. Mia Bonta, would increase kids' access to fluoride varnish, working to prevent cavities and keep kids in school.
