About us
The Youth4Nature Conference is a two-day event held in Arusha every two years, serving as a platform for youths with diverse backgrounds to meet, learn, share knowledge and experience about diverse approaches and opportunities for youth in a career of conservation, with its idea being derived from the African Protected Area Congress (APAC) held in Kigali in July 2022 after listening to passionate conservationists from Tanzania sharing their experiences on various APAC platforms. These young individuals left a profound impact with their dedication, knowledge, and the results of their work. As a result, it was decided that young Tanzanians should have the chance to listen to and learn from these exceptional speakers. While these young conservationists possess valuable knowledge and passion, they are often preoccupied with their fieldwork, leaving them with limited opportunities to share their expertise with others. Recognizing that the future of conservation demands a diverse range of skills, the conference aims to introduce speakers from various conservation fields. These speakers include researchers, data experts, rangers, financial managers, IT professionals, communication specialists, and fundraising experts. Despite their diverse backgrounds, they all share one common trait—they are all youth. With the inaugural Y4N conference taking place in 2022, the second one is set for 8th and 9th June, 2024.

Excited to announce that the Youth4Nature Conference 2024 has officially begun! 🌍 This morning, we kicked off with an insightful session on "The Role of Local Communities in Conservation" led by Mohammed Kamuna from CWMAC. His presentation highlighted the vital impact of grassroots efforts and community involvement in conservation. 🌱✨ In addition to this, we had an engaging session on networking and relationship-building skills, teaching participants how to make the most out of a conference. Learning from experienced professionals, the morning sessions were packed with knowledge and inspiration. We’re thrilled to continue with more exciting sessions this afternoon, covering various essential topics in conservation and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates and highlights! This World Environment Day focuses on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience with the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are #generationrestoration.” Drought and desertification threaten ecosystems, including freshwater and soil, which are crucial for life on Earth. Key Facts: -Almost 60% of all species live in soil, the planet’s most biodiverse habitat. -Only 0.5% of Earth’s water is usable freshwater, and climate change is affecting this supply. -Drylands cover 41% of the Earth’s surface, generate 44% of global crops, and support over 2 billion people. -Deserts, like the Sahara, are home to diverse species despite harsh conditions. -Forests cover 31% of the Earth and house more than half of the world’s land-based species. -Freshwater ecosystems hold 20-30% of global carbon. Soil erosion threatens food production; agriculture must increase by 60-70% by 2050 to meet global demands. -Cities occupy 3% of land but consume 75% of resources and produce 60% of greenhouse gas emissions. World Environment Day, held annually on 5 June, engages millions in efforts to protect and restore Earth.
