Putting a proposal together, and I have to admit, I love the challenge. While I advocate for reviewing on a call, I always pass the proposal along first. This ensures no one feels put on the spot. They have time to process it, get questions together, and get to know me a bit if they don’t already–leading to more enjoyable and productive calls when the time comes.
In considering the entire experience of these, I’ve found a presentation format to be most effective. I have the space I need to introduce myself and YupGup, speak to our process and what to expect, highlight similar projects, timeline and budget, AND incorporate the necessary design elements to ensure it’s easy to review, informative, and enjoyable–photos, white space, links, iconography, visual representations for things like timelines and deliverables.
These proposals are design projects in themselves. While time-consuming, you’re instilling trust and excitement and have set up a roadmap to hit the ground running with. Potential clients should have a strong sense that you understand the problem and are the right person to fix it. OH, and always include an expiration date 😅
