☀ It was a beautiful day on Saturday for our 6th Annual Race Against Racism 5K. Thanks to everyone who came out to run/walk, support our mission, and recognize our 2024 Ambassadors of Change! 💫 JOIN THE MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE! In collaboration with Healing Illinois, YWCA Quad Cities is proud to announce the launch of a new initiative, Community Advocates for Racial Equity (CARE QC). CARE QC is a white Anti-Racist Group, the first of its kind in the Quad Cities region, dedicated to combating racism and promoting equity within our community. By joining CARE QC, you’ll be part of a collective effort to challenge racism and promote equity in the Quad Cities. 🗓 JOIN US for a virtual information session on Wednesday, October 2nd at 5:30 pm. Whether a runner, walker, or someone who just wants to be part of the movement to RACE AGAINST RACISM, we can’t wait to welcome EVERYONE back to Schweibert Park in Rock Island for the 6th annual RACE AGAINST RACISM, a race for people of all ages! The event includes a (timed) 5k run/walk and an (un-timed) 1-mile fun run/walk, both taking runners and walkers on the bike-path along the beautiful Mississippi River. Thank you to the QC Business Journal for highlighting our latest project - a Youth Shelter at our former YWCA location! We are happy to honor a longtime legacy and name it "Alan's House" after former Doris and Victor Day Director, Alan Egly, who was instrumental in helping us create ThePlace2B.

YWCA QC is repurposing the former YW location at 229 16th Street, Rock Island, into a Youth Shelter, that will will serve ages 10 to 17 years and provide sleeping areas, restrooms and male/female showers for those in need!
