Great morning at the ZAP Engineering & Construction Services, Inc. #LakewoodColorado office. We had Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck at the office. Nice cool, caffeinated morning! Great job to Sara Esch for making these events happen. #ExcellenceInExecution

Let us never forget the innocent people who lost their lives 23 years ago today in the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and on Flight 93. We honor the first responders who sacrificed everything by running into danger, as well as those who survived but whose lives were forever changed. Let us also remember our neighbors and friends who served in the war that followed in the Middle East, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our country, our freedoms, and all Americans.

ZAP recently supported more than 500 students in the Jefferson County School District (Colorado) by providing them with the essential school supplies they need for the year ahead. Through the collective efforts of our employees, we gathered more than 2,300 items, including backpacks, spiral notebooks, scissors and more. ZAP matched those donations, ultimately helping 522 students start the school year fully prepared. To make our school supply drive fun and even more impactful, we turned it into a friendly competition, combining various departments into teams. Special recognition goes to the Mechanical Design, Electrical Engineering, and EI&C Design Team, which donated more than 1,800 items. We’re grateful for the generosity of our team and are proud to contribute to the success of students in our Lakewood community.

Safety is our top priority. Our site specific safety plan outlines clear safety and health requirements for every employee, subcontractor and visitor on our sites. We hold various types of safety meetings to maintain our high safety standards, including: • Daily tailgate meetings to review potential hazards. • Joint daily safety/coordination meeting with all onsite workers to make sure everyone understands the day’s activities and potential hazards. • Weekly supervisor meetings led by the project manager and integrated into progress meetings to address safety concerns. We work diligently every day to ensure a safe and healthy job site for all.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standard, it's important to review and update your arc-flash analysis at least every five years or whenever there are significant changes to your equipment. An arc-flash analysis, along with proper labeling of electrical equipment, is the best way to comply with OSHA requirements, make sure your facility is up to date, and allow your team to work safely. ZAP’s Electrical Engineering Team performs detailed arc-flash analyses, thoroughly documents each evaluation in a formal engineering report, and provides clear labels that show the level of risk at each location.
