Introducing Zensights Federated Healthcare Advisory Panel: Vice Admiral Rocky Bono Vice Admiral Rocky Bono served with distinction for nearly 30 years as a Naval Officer, becoming the first woman surgeon in the military to attain the rank of Vice Admiral. As the former CEO and Director of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), she led a $50 billion global healthcare enterprise, integrating the healthcare services of all branches of the U.S. military—Army, Navy, and Air Force. Under her leadership, the DoD deployed its electronic health record system, one of the largest and most complex health IT implementations in the world, and advanced the largest federated health system in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. VADM Bono brings her extensive medical and leadership experience to life science companies. On March 22, 2020, she was appointed by Washington State Governor Jay Inslee to lead the state’s health system response to the COVID-19 pandemic, where she played a crucial role in coordinating efforts to manage the public health crisis. Her expertise lies in identifying the similarities and differences between commercial, private, and VA healthcare environments, enabling companies to effectively operate and position themselves within these markets. She is particularly skilled in guiding companies through the DoD and VA formulary processes, ensuring that their products are not only effective and beneficial but also favorably positioned to serve the needs of military personnel. Additionally, VADM Bono’s deep understanding of patient advocacy within the military and veteran communities allows her to identify key opportunities for life science companies to engage with patient cohorts and advocacy groups. Her strategic insights into the healthcare needs of service members and veterans help companies align their products with the priorities of the DoD and VA, ultimately ensuring that the right medications reach those who need them most. VADM Bono offers companies a unique lens into the DoD and VA, simplifying the complexities of these systems and facilitating effective engagement. Her unparalleled experience within the military healthcare system makes her an invaluable resource for any life science company looking to succeed in the federated healthcare space. #ZensightsFHAP #FederatedHealthcare #AdvisoryPanel #DHA

Introducing Zensights Federated Healthcare Advisory Panel: Dr. Shulkin Dr. David J. Shulkin, the Ninth Secretary of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), brings an unparalleled depth of experience in healthcare management and veteran care. Appointed to lead the VA by President Trump and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate (making him the only cabinet nominee by President Trump to have unanimous approval), Secretary Shulkin led the nation’s largest integrated healthcare system, overseeing over 1,200 sites of care and serving more than 9 million veterans. Before this, he was appointed by President Obama as Under Secretary of Health for the VA, where he was also unanimously confirmed by the Senate, reflecting the bipartisan trust in his leadership and expertise. Before his tenure at the VA, Secretary Shulkin was a widely respected healthcare executive, holding key positions as chief executive of renowned hospitals and health systems, including Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey. His deep commitment to patient-centered care and outcomes-driven management earned him a reputation as one of the most influential figures in American healthcare. His work has always been grounded in a fundamental belief in putting patients first—a principle that guided his tenure at the VA and continues to influence his work today. During his time as Secretary, Dr. Shulkin implemented significant reforms to enhance transparency and access to care, such as publicly posting quality data and wait times for all VA facilities. He expanded access to mental health care for veterans with less than honorable discharges and took decisive actions to address critical issues, such as making suicide prevention the single highest clinical priority for the VA. His leadership was characterized by a relentless focus on addressing the urgent needs of veterans and improving the overall quality of their care. Now, Secretary Shulkin leverages his extensive experience to assist life science clients in navigating the complex VA system, ensuring that veterans receive timely and effective healthcare products. His expertise lies in understanding the unique challenges of getting care to veterans, from navigating regulatory pathways to forging strategic partnerships within the VA. Driven by a mission to ensure that those who have served our country have seamless access to the healthcare they need, Secretary Shulkin welcomes opportunities to continue supporting initiatives that improve care for veterans and their families. #ZensightsFHAP #FederatedHealthcare #AdvisoryPanel #VeteransAffairs

Market Access and Reimbursement in Pharma Navigating the market access and reimbursement landscape can be complex, with each therapeutic area presenting its own unique challenges. Here are some key factors we consider: ✓ Evolving Payer Requirements: Payers are increasingly demanding real-world evidence and health economics and outcomes research data to support the value of new therapies. Building a robust evidence package early in development is crucial to meet these evolving standards. ✓ Patient-Centric Value Models: Traditional cost-effectiveness models are being supplemented by value frameworks that incorporate patient outcomes and quality of life metrics. Understanding and integrating these models into your market access strategy can improve alignment with payer expectations. ✓ Policy Changes Impacting Access: Recent changes in policy, notably the Inflation Reduction Act in the U.S., are reshaping how drugs are priced and reimbursed. Staying ahead of these changes and fully understanding their impacts before implementation is essential for maintaining market access. ✓ Innovative Contracting: Risk-sharing agreements and value-based contracts are becoming more common, allowing payers and manufacturers to share the financial risk associated with new therapies. Exploring these options can create win-win scenarios for both parties. #MarketAccess #Reimbursement #PharmaInsights #HealthcarePolicy #PatientValue

These transactions are potentially impactful when/if key leadership rotates out of the organization. It is important to understand the strategic long term vision of these PE acquisitions — You should always be aware of ownership changes within the vendors you consider key strategic partners. Zensights can assist you in navigating and understanding the potential implications of these and other variables associated with Patient Services and HUB vendors. #PrivateEquityInPharma #PatientServices #HUB #Zensights
