We're proud to share that we have received the 2024 Project of the Year by Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) in recognition of our HyFlyer II project. This award recognizes projects that have challenged conventional thinking, embraced risk, and contributed valuable insights towards achieving clean flight. We’re incredibly proud that HyFlyer II has been recognized as a standout in delivering these important milestones. In partnership with EMEC: European Marine Energy Centre and Aeristech the HyFlyer II project focused on developing the first certifiable hydrogen-electric powertrain capable of powering airframes with up to 19 passengers. Since our first flight in January 2023, we’ve made significant progress, including completing our flight testing program and submitting the ZA600 for certification. While there’s still work to be done to get the technology to market and scale for larger aircraft, as our Managing Director Gabriele Teofili said, "This award provides a great opportunity for our team to pull their heads up for a little moment from the hard work we are doing on certification and reflect on an historic achievement with this project" A huge thank you to ATI, the Department for Business and Trade, and Innovate UK for their continued support on this journey! When used in fuel cells to produce electricity, hydrogen offers a game-changing solution for aviation by generating zero carbon emissions. The past decade has been transformative for the hydrogen sector, with recent years fueling growth through crucial financial support, research funding, and deployment initiatives. Key milestones include the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act and the FAA reauthorization, both of which contain provisions to advance hydrogen aviation. By 2050, hydrogen has the potential to reduce 16% of all U.S. CO2 emissions!
