Should you buy a list during #BlackFriday and #CyberMonday to reach more customers? Here's a scenario that *might* be OK vs. one that could get you blocked: Scenario No. 1️⃣: You're a travel insurance agent and want to purchase leads from an unaffiliated travel website. On the site, it indicates to customers that they're opting in to receive quotes from agents. Verdict: This might be OK. The list is customized to people who are part of your target audience. The people on that list have opted in to receive quotes for upcoming travel plans. Scenario No. 2️⃣: You receive an email from someone who says, "I have a list of all of your competitors' customers. Do you want to buy it?" Verdict: This is very risky. That list is likely filled with: 🚫 Spam traps 🚫 Invalid emails 🚫 People who never opted in to receive anything Plus, the sender has probably sold that list to hundreds of people. So what happens when you upload that list to your email marketing platform? They might block you. The takeaway: Generally speaking, buying email lists is problematic. But the second scenario may be riskier than the first. >> What do you think? <<

If you haven’t done these 4 things, your next marketing email might wind up in spam ... 🔑 Proper DKIM, SPF and DMARC authentication. Make sure your recipients’ servers can authenticate who you are. Your “from” email address should match the sender email address and your company's physical address should also be listed in the footer. ✅ Validate your email list. Avoid looking shady to spam services by ensuring your list is only made up of valid, active contacts. ❗ Check your content for common spam triggers. Misleading headers, ALL CAPS and going overboard with exclamation points can land you in spam!!! 👀 Monitor your bounce rate. Your average email bounce rate should be less than 2%. >> How many of these things are you doing now <<

It's the #DayoftheDead, when the border between the spirit world and the real world is believed to dissolve. It's also the perfect time to remind people that email is NOT dead — no matter what the internet tells you. Here's proof of its vitality, based on a ZeroBounce survey across four continents: 📩 88% of people check their email every day. 3️⃣ 56% of respondents said they have at least 3 email addresses. 👀 39% check their inboxes 3-5x a day. 💲 40% check email looking for discounts from brands. ❤️ 47% said the primary reason they open all emails from a brand is because the messages are consistently relevant. So don't just rely on social media algorithms to connect with customers. Control your destiny with email. 🌹
