💡 Women make up 43% of the global agricultural workforce, yet own less than 15% of the land. Despite being vital to food systems, they often face lower pay, vulnerability to climate impacts, and limited access to technology. Supporting women-led agricultural cooperatives not only advances climate action, but also fosters social equity, enabling those most impacted by climate change to benefit from innovative solutions. Let’s elevate the role of women in agriculture to build a sustainable, regenerative future for all! 🌱 #RuralWomenDay #WomenInAgriculture #CarbonRemoval #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Empowerment

Women make up 43% of the world’s agricultural labor force. But they are less than 15% of the world’s landowners. And on average, they are lower paid, more vulnerable to climate volatility and disease, and face gaps in access to technology and infrastructure. If you want to invest in the sustainable and resilient agricultural systems of tomorrow, start where the biggest opportunities lie: with women and girls. As the UN says, it’s not only the right thing to do, but will have a significant impact on key indicators including agricultural production, food security and nutrition. To achieve our ambition for equitable, regenerative and rewarding agricultural systems, we need to make them that way for everyone – particularly underserved groups, such as women and young people. Investing directly in female farmers, and female-led cooperatives, is one way to make a difference! 🚜 Farming Challenges Got You Down? Let’s Talk Solutions! 🌍 Farmers everywhere are facing huge challenges that can’t be ignored: ❗ Soil Depletion: Decades of monocropping and heavy fertilizer use have drained our soils of essential nutrients, making it harder to maintain healthy, productive fields. 💧 Chemical Overload: Synthetic fertilizers may boost crops short-term, but they lead to nutrient runoff, polluting our waterways and harming ecosystems. 🌾 Soil Acidification: Acidic soils restrict crops from absorbing key nutrients, making it even tougher to grow healthy produce. 🌡️ Climate Change Pressures: As extreme weather becomes the norm, farming is getting harder, with unpredictable yields and greater risks for farmers. But guess what? There’s hope. 🌱 Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) is transforming regenerative agriculture with various benefits: 🌿 Nutrient-Rich Soil: By spreading finely crushed silicate rocks, ERW restores essential minerals naturally, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and improving long-term soil health. 📈 Higher Yields: Studies show that ERW can boost crop yields by up to 20%, even in challenging climates! 🌍 Climate-Resilient Farms: ERW sequesters CO₂ from the atmosphere, actively addressing climate change! By improving soil health, ERW makes farms more resilient to extreme climatic events. 🚜 Let’s turn these challenges into opportunities and adopt smarter farming practices for a greener, more sustainable future! 🌱 #RegenerativeAgriculture #FarmBetter #SoilHealth #SustainableFarming #ClimateAction #GreenFarming

⚡ NEW REPORT:  We’re thrilled to share that the Carbon Business Development Council and the Carbon Business Council published a new report titled “Utilities and Carbon Removal: A Gigaton Scale Opportunity,” supported by Breakthrough Energy 💡 Utilities and the CDR industry are on the starting line of a decades-long collaboration. The report highlights how utilities can not only provide essential support for the carbon removal industry to grow, but also how removals offer substantial benefits to utilities, making them a smart investment. Beyond direct energy intersections, opportunities abound for utilities to integrate CDR into their assets and operations, which include extensive land management operations, construction projects with carbon storage in long-lived products, and operational budgets. ⚖️ The utility regulatory ecosystem may also hold several different benefits for early investments in CDR, recognizing the success and similarities with early utility investments in renewables and storage, utility project management and financing expertise, and the stakeholder-forward process. 💸 As utilities deepen engagement in carbon removal, the report shows how these economic and environmental benefits can translate to cost savings for ratepayers. The report dives into four key threads where utilities and CDR can synergize to accelerate the path to #NetZero, exploring: 1️⃣ The role CDR could play on energy utilities’ path to net zero 2️⃣ How energy-intensive CDR can access low-cost, low-carbon energy 3️⃣ How and where CDR pathways can be integrated into utility assets and operations 4️⃣ How regulators might assess and weigh utility CDR investments 🤝 Partnerships between utilities and CDR developers are essential for success, requiring deeper engagement, expanded technical expertise, and collaborative policy development. Whether you’re a utility, CDR developer, or policymaker, this report offers insights and recommendations tailored to your role in the journey to net zero. Nick Pappas and Jon Martindill of NP ENERGY and @Ben Rubin and Isabella Corpora served as the lead authors for this report. Dive in here: https://lnkd.in/gBETtNKC #CarbonRemoval #EnergyUtilities  #NetZero #ClimateTech
