Exciting news for psoriasis treatment! A new study published in JAMA Dermatology supports Zest's approach to alternative at-home treatments like phototherapy. This randomized clinical trial of 783 patients found that home-based narrowband UV-B phototherapy for plaque or guttate psoriasis is just as effective as office-based treatments. Key findings include: (1) Noninferior patient and physician-reported outcomes (2) Reduced indirect costs for patients (3) Greater convenience and treatment adherence As a virtual dermatology clinic, Zest is proud to advocate for patient access to this safe and convenient in-home treatment for our #psoriasis and #eczema patients. Thanks to our DME partners Daavlin Phototherapy and NatBio, we're able to offer this proven treatment to patients in 47 states! Check out more at www.joinzest.com Joel M Gelfand MD MSCE

We had a wonderful family day at the Philadelphia Zoo participating in the National Psoriasis Foundation Take Action for #PsoriaticDisease fundraising event. My favorite part was hearing patient testimonials on the impact of #psoriasis and #arthritis. It was a reminder of the work still needed to enhance access to care, yet it was also a celebration of our progress and dedication to finding a cure. Zest Dermatology joined the Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System Medicine, Department of Dermatology Team Joules, which was recognized as one of the top fundraising teams! Congratulations to Joel M Gelfand MD MSCE and Brooke Bishop, MPH for the all of incredible work! You can still contribute to this important cause by joining our team or making a donation here: https://lnkd.in/es3eXecb #npftakeaction #fundraiser #dermatology

In response to today's news regarding clinical trials of GLP-1s for use in psoriasis, Zest Dermatology's leadership shares the following insights:   Olivia Deitcher, CEO: "Psoriasis medications maintain strong formulary coverage despite high price tags. GLP-1 sponsors are clearly eyeing this market dynamic, perhaps to drive better coverage of their products. With our existing partners and beyond, Zest is well positioned to collaborate with health plans and employers to navigate the best path forward."   Rachel Day MD, FAAD, VP of Clinical: "As a dermatologist, I’m encouraged by the progress in understanding the systemic impact of psoriasis, including its links to cardiovascular disease and metabolic dysfunction. These conditions drive inflammation and contribute to overall health risks. However, I’m concerned that healthcare often prioritizes pharmaceutical solutions over lower-cost, effective interventions like diet and exercise, despite evidence supporting their benefits in psoriasis management. For instance, a 2014 randomized controlled study demonstrated significant improvement with a dietetic intervention and a recent review of nutrition as a therapeutic tool for psoriasis supported nutrition as a therapeutic intervention. I'll be closely following the emerging GLP-1 data."   Madison Muller Bloomberg News 📰 https://lnkd.in/g8uswP8X ⚕Study 1️⃣ | Naldi et al. Scientific research is the backbone of healthcare innovation. At Zest, we believe virtual care companies represent new frontiers for research collaboration. We are thrilled to announce our participation in the National Psoriasis Foundation’s CP3 study, proudly serving as the exclusive telehealth study site! The CP3 study investigates prevention of cardiovascular disease and mortality in patients with psoriasis or psoriatic arthritis. Individuals living with psoriatic disease face a shorter life expectancy, largely due to a heightened risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) — including heart attacks and strokes. These patients often have undiagnosed and under-treated CVD risk factors such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol. CVD management drives high medical costs for health plans and employers, creating an opportunity to drive better outcomes at lower costs through care models like Zest. Thank you to Joel M Gelfand MD MSCE from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine for including Zest on this study! We are proud to have Rachel Day MD, FAAD leading the efforts from the Zest side. Together, we are committed to advancing care and improving the lives of those affected by psoriatic disease. We are proud to be on the forefront of psoriasis care innovation. This story underscores the growing need for employers (and their health plan partners!) to proactively oversee their prescription spend. Bloomberg News states the tricky dynamic: Wells Fargo and other employers spend, "$1 *trillion* annually on company-sponsored health plans, the main source of insurance for working-age Americans," yet employers often are burned by the excessive pharmacy costs that hit their business each year. Fortunately, however, by partnering with innovative health plans and integrating value-based, prescription cost-sparing providers, employers can save billions on drug spend. Our solution at Zest Dermatology not only reduces Rx costs but also enhances the overall quality of dermatology care for employees.
