The Role

This is a co-op opportunity in Cambridge, MA from January 21, 2025 – June 20, 2025. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be January 21, 2025.

The Gene Editing Discovery team is seeking a team-oriented and highly motivated Co-op to join our gene editing and translation group. The candidate will contribute to discovery research to characterize the activity of mRNA-encoded proteins against disease targets of interest in cell culture and preclinical models. The successful candidate should have a background in molecular biology, genetics, or cell biology. Applicants should be collaborative team members, have excellent organizational and communication skills, and exhibit a strong desire to learn.The candidate must thrive in a fast pace environment with high expectations. Here’s What You’ll Do

• Work with a team of highly skilled experts to come up to speed quickly on technology and techniques
• Use laboratory, technical and communication skills to generate experimental results, perform data analysis, and document in formal reports including conclusions and recommended next steps
• Working with mammalian cell biology and/or gene editing to carry out experiments with mRNA-encoded gene editors
• Perform cell culture, including maintenance and manipulation of cell lines and primary cells
• Carry out a variety of assays spanning a range of molecular and cellular biological techniques, including qPCR, ELISA, Jess, ICC/IF
• Maintain clear and detailed research notebook
• Work well as part of a team
• Prepare technical reports and present finding in cross-functional meetings
  
  
  

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

• A high-school diploma
• Working knowledge and experience with general molecular biology and cellular biology techniques
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and primary hepatocytes is a plus
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, scientific versatility, flexibility, results-oriented, ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Excellent communication skills
• Passion for great data
