Position Description: Monroe Catholic Elementary Schools, St. Mary Middle School Campus has an opening for a 5th & 6th Grade English/Language Arts Teacher for the 2024-25 school year. This position will also teach a religion class (must be able to obtain or have Advanced Catechist Certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit) and an elective class to be determined. Candidates must be certified by the MDE.
Requirements:

Every teacher contributes to the spiritual growth of the school community by:
Starting each class with a prayer
Actively participating in Liturgies and Prayer Services
Upholding a moral code consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of the school
Actively participating in one’s own faith community
Engaging in our faculty community through mutual support and encouragement
Participating in a Protecting God’s Children Training
Must be certified by the Department of Evangelization, Catechesis and Schools
Essential Job Qualifications:
All teachers in the Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese of Detroit shall be certified and /or approved for teaching by the Department of Education for the State of Michigan. All teachers are required to hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach.
Displays a high degree of knowledge in the subject matter assigned and is continuously upgrading competence.
Organizes learning activities to provide varied classroom experiences that are congruent with educational goal, objectives and Catholic Faith.
Applies sound principles of learning and motivation in the planning, delivery and assessment -phases of instructional methodology.
Uses technology as a tool within the classroom for learning and instruction.
Establishes effective relationships with students and models respect for and acceptance of all persons in the Catholic school setting.
Establishes effective relationships with parent, community and other staff members.
Maintains professional ethics and responsibilities including participation in the total school program, curriculum development and building committees providing a positive role model for students.
Is in by at 7:25am and stays after school until at least 3:00pm
