The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team at Canopy. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Accountant will play a key role in supporting various accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This is a hybrid position in South Jordan, Utah (M, W, F in-office).
What You’ll Do:
Lead the month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Book accruals for expenses and receivables researching discrepancies.
Conduct regular reviews of financial data to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Assist with the audit process and provide support to external auditors during annual audits.
Maintain documentation of accounting processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee revenue recognition and reporting, ensuring compliance with standards and the accuracy of revenue streams
Oversee and manage payroll accounts, ensuring accurate processing and compliance with all relevant regulations.
Manage the calculation, tracking, and payment of commissions, ensuring accurate recording of commission expenses in financial statements
Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong Excel Skills.
Bonus Points If You Have:
Experience in the SaaS industry.
Experience using Quickbooks, Zuora, Bill.com, Salesforce.
Experience with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable or General ledger.
