Position Overview
Primary Purpose Of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to support the Real Estate Foundation and the University’s Treasurer’s Office by managing all university and third-party attempts to collect on student accounts with the collections cycle in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all charges on student accounts and performing financial and systems analysis for financial reporting purposes and to suggest and implement process changes and improvements.
Provide support to enterprising operations of the Real Estate Foundation’s Event Center to collect outstanding receivables on a monthly basis.
Primary Function Of Organizational Unit
The Real Estate Foundation offers office accommodations for University Relations, Alumni Relations and administrative offices for the Real Estate Foundation. It also is the principal site for the Alumni Foundation Event Center and its staff.

Work Hours 8am - 5pm

Required Competency Financial Monitoring & Analysis
Duties
Manage the entire collections processes for all accounts receivable for the Real Estate Foundation and the University. Prepare formal statements and reconciliations for all collections totals, age of receivables, collection agency collection rates, Perkins loans default rates, interest and late penalty fee assessments, and tax garnishments totals in compliance with North Carolina General Assembly policies. Conduct regular audits on student accounts, Foundation for NCA & TSU , Inc. scholarships, and Treasurer’s Office funds. Identify and reconcile discrepancies between Real Estate Foundation housing rosters and Banner INB , and discrepancies between Foundation for NCA & TSU , Inc scholarships and Financial Aid. Utilize technical applications (Banner, WebFocus, and Microsoft Suite)

Duties
Identify and determine accounts to write off, assign to collection agencies, and assess interest and late penalty fees for university and the Real Estate Foundation accounts. Research, prepare statements, and provide formal responses to students and all third-party collections agencies. Determine resolutions and resources for disputes on receivables, collection agencies, and tax garnishments. Create efficiencies within Treasurer’s Office processes by implementing technology and automation while maintaining compliance with relevant policies, legislation, and higher education best practices.

Duties
The Accounts Receivable Accountant must provide excellent customer service in communicating with internal and external customers. Prepare revisions to statements, forms, documents, websites, and various other university correspondences. Facilitate and lead collaborations with other departments to identify and resolve discrepancies in university and the Real Estate Foundation charges, the Foundation for NCA & TSU , Inc. scholarships payments, and billing information. Manage partnerships and relationships between the university and the NC DOR , NC OSBM , student loan servicers, ECSI , and all collection agencies. Regularly perform systems analysis to design and implement test plans for process improvements, technological upgrades, and routine maintenance for submissions to Division of Information Technology. Maintain the accounts receivable database in order to provide an accurate record for the status of each account within the receivables cycle.
Required Competency Professional Knowledge
Duties
The Accounts Receivable Accountant must have knowledge of the Banner Student Accounts Receivable and Finance Systems, WebFocus Developer Studio, and The Department of Education, North Carolina General Assembly Statutes, Federal Bankruptcy Statutes, the North Carolina Set Off Debt Collection Act ( SODCA ), and the NC Office of State Budget and Management procedures, in order to perform key processes, and to manage reports and reconciliations for all accounts within the receivables cycle. Must have extensive knowledge of higher education, state, university, foundation, and departmental standards and a technical aptitude in order to create and design ad hoc reports as need by the Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, the Real Estate Foundation, and the Foundation for NCA & TSU , Inc.
