Accountant

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant will support general accounting across all the US and International businesses. The position will report directly to the Senior Accountant with a strong interface with other members of the Finance Team.

Responsibilities

• Be an integral part of the finance team regarding accounting, financial reporting and analysis against the monthly budget.
• Assist in the preparation of information for the annual audit, including supporting footnote information.
• Participate in special projects on an as needed basis.
• Tracking and accounting for the amortization of prepaid expenses at the location level. Resolve discrepancies and identify areas where costs should be recorded as a prepaid expense.
• Prepare the reconciliation of US and International bank accounts. Resolve discrepancies within the US Finance team as well as foreign entities.
• Perform the monthly Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable reconciliations as well as prepare the revaluation of foreign currency balances.
• Perform the monthly Journal Entry control process, ensuring there is adequate support/approvals for each entry posted.
• Assist with the preparation of other monthly and annual close items as time allows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, fashion industry or retail experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles with the ability to analyze and interpret the impacts on income and cash flow.
• Ability to communicate well with others and become an integral part of the Finance Team.
• Comfortable with foreign currency accounting and revaluations.
• Strong Excel skills to be able to analyze and interpret data.
• Meticulous attention to detail with ability to produce work free of errors.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
