Description

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting activities related to accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, and tax audits. This position will also create, develop, and analyze data to formulate insights related to budgeting and forecasting and present that information to senior leaders.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Hires and trains new employees in the Accounting department.
  • Supervises and manages the Accounting department’s assignments and priorities.
  • Assigns financial responsibilities in consultation with the Vice President.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Oversees the accuracy and productivity of the daily accounting activities including accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, bank reconciliation, and tax audits.
  • Prepares budgeting reports and forecast revenues.
  • Organizes financial data into usable information and maintains updated records.
  • Makes recommendations to improve the company’s fiscal efficiency based on interpretation and organization of financial information.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of internal controls, goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to accounting in alignment with company targets.
  • Tracks the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
  • Participates in regular tax audits.
  • Manages month-end and year-end closing.
  • Review and analyze the accounting operations and make recommendations to maximize department productivity and efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas)
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks) and ERP Systems

Experience/Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance Required.
  • At least 5 years of experience related to accounting required; experience in the manufacturing industry preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed.
