The Fashion Program works with the Council of Fashion Designers of America Education Initiatives and is recognized both nationally and internationally as a fashion school of high caliber. This position reports to the Fashion Faculty Chair and Dean of the Women's College.

Responsibilities

  • Teach one or more undergraduate courses in either lecture and/or studio formats within a block schedule.
  • Nurture individual students’ design abilities with a strong commitment to design education.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • MFA or Ph.D. with at least one degree in fashion, apparel, or a closely aligned degree; other appropriate Master’s degree plus one degree in design and related achievements and experience.
  • Ability to manage and coach groups toward mastery of skills needed to succeed in the global fashion marketplace.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: apparel design process management, product development, draping and patternmaking, fitting, bespoke or better sewing skills, digital or 3D printing for fashion design, technologies for fashion design, fashion promotion and events, fashion drawing and/or illustration, or sustainable and global issues within fashion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a fashion designer or technical designer, patternmaker, supply chain management.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, CLO, or other apparel software.
  • Record of innovative teaching in higher education.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, including working with groups, meeting deadlines, and effective communication and motivation skills.
