African Fashion Ecommerce Marketing and Sales Manager

Responsibilities


DIGITAL MARKETING

  • Connect Ananse to online audiences, especially targeting global audiences with an interest in Africa and African fashion
  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategy to drive the acquisition of new merchants and customers on Ananse’s ecommerce marketplace platform
  • Work with creative staff, agencies and other department heads to produce high quality multimedia marketing collateral and editorial content that is aligned to the brand and business imperatives
  • Develop and implement marketing plans within budget requirements
  • Develop and implement social media and digital content strategy
  • Work with cross-functional teams to implement web and ecommerce content for product launches, lead generation campaigns, videos, customer education and SEO


ECOMMERCE SALES

  • Develop and implement digital campaigns to achieve sales targets
  • Implement demand generation programmes including email, paid media, social media, blog channels, paid search, SEO, affiliate programmes and other web-based marketing programmes
  • Evaluate ecommerce campaign spend effectiveness to ensure positive ROI and data driven learnings for future campaigns



BRAND DEVELOPMENT

  • Develop and implement branding initiatives and joint marketing partnerships consistent with the goals and objectives of the business
  • Define and implement consistent Ananse brand personality and editorial voice across different channels: ecommerce website, social media platforms etc, and ensure editorial content on website and social media appeals to the Ananse target market


COMMUNICATIONS

  • Develop and implement communications plan across all relevant communications channels (online and offline) to reach appropriate target audiences
  • Secure PR/earned media coverage from local and international media to build awareness and reputation of Ananse among the target audience


GENERAL MANAGEMENT

  • Manage marketing and ecommerce sales team and provide leadership at management level
  • Develop and deliver marketing training to support targeted and current fashion merchants on the ecommerce marketplace platform
  • Manage external marketing partners and stakeholders including agencies
  • Provide the CEO and management team with input into strategic plans for the business



Requirements

  • Bachelors or Masters degree or MBA with a specialisation in Marketing
  • Minimum 5 years’ work experience in a fashion e-commerce marketing and sales management role
  • Good understanding of fashion ecommerce marketplaces
  • Strong fashion social media and digital content experience
  • Strong proficiency in internet marketing techniques, technologies and solutions
  • Excellent writing, editing and public relations skills
  • Fluency in French would be a distinct advantage
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills
  • Highly effective project management, prioritisation, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Strong data and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to drive marketing and business KPIs in a complex multi-stakeholder environment
  • Strong entrepreneurial mind-set and problem-solving capabilities with a record of finding feasible solutions to complex problems in an environment with incomplete information and tight timelines
  • Business proficiency in both English and French would be an advantage
  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours and travel in Africa
  • An affinity, love and connection to the African diaspora and African Fashion preferable
