Analyst, Strategy & Business Development

Overview:

The Analyst plays an integral role on the Hospital for Special Surgery’s (HSS) Strategy & Business Development team. The Strategy & Business Development team is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the organization and evolving the enterprise strategic plan. The team also oversees the annual operating plan process, coordinating between departments to develop a cohesive strategy. The team monitors industry trends, conducts competitive analyses, and assesses HSS’s market position on a regular basis to identify opportunities for growth and anticipate threats.

The Analyst will report to the Manager of Strategy & Business Development, serving as the staff resource for market analysis, project management, and special initiatives. In this key role, the Analyst will influence market priorities, inform business decisions on partnerships and collaborations, and provide critical infrastructure as HSS’ continues to deliver on its strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Develops business and market analyses to inform a variety of strategic initiatives, including clinical program rollouts, regional expansion strategies, strategic partnerships, and business development opportunities.
  • Creates tools for monitoring departmental performance and attainment of strategic goals, utilizing both external and internal data sources (e.g., Sg2 Analytics tools, State Hospital inpatient and outpatient databases, EPIC, etc.).
  • Develops mechanisms to effectively monitor competitive and marketplace intelligence; incorporates findings into timely, concise, actionable communications to ensure senior leadership is aware of marketplace opportunities, trends, and threats.
  • Utilizes a range of data sources, including market share data, physician profiling, market projections, and market research, in all aspects of work.
  • Supports senior leadership in managing key projects to on-time, on-budget completion.
  • Provides leadership with dashboard updates and other reporting tools to facilitate oversight of key projects, strategic initiatives, and departmental performance.
  • Creates presentations that clearly and effectively convey key findings from analyses.
  • Assists in the development of internal/external materials around strategy including communications to board members, medical staff, and external audiences.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams including clinical departments, ambulatory services, finance, and operations to develop and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Supports initiatives to increase market share and market capture, working closely with Director and Vice President of Strategy & Business Development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required (Business or Health Administration, Economics, or related field preferred)
  • 2-5 years related work experience in the healthcare industry, strategic planning, consulting, or a related field preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong interest in healthcare and knowledge around market trends
  • Excellent analytic skills; ability to interpret data and report findings in a clear manner
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to distill or add complexity to presentations based on outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Capable of managing complex assignments and working independently
  • Strong computer skills and ability to understand and manipulate new data sources quickly
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel) data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)

Pay Range - Minimum

USD $70,000.00/Yr.

Pay Range - Maximum

USD $90,000.00/Yr.
