Overview
We are seeking an Associate to join the Asset Management team of our private equity real estate investment group. Reporting directly to the Co-Heads of Asset Management, this role will interact with senior leaders across the firm to maximize the value of our portfolio. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and embrace the opportunity to leverage their analytic skills in a dynamic environment across a variety of property types and geographies.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate property or portfolio pro forma and return analyses to evaluate leasing, redevelopment, disposition, refinancing, and recapitalization opportunities
- Review monthly/weekly property performance reports, identifying key trends and opportunities for strategic improvements
- Share insights from property performance reports and monthly management reports with senior asset managers
- Reconcile debt, equity, and construction draws for capital projects, ground-up developments, or redevelopments
- Prepare quarterly asset valuations and external investor reports summarizing performance and market dynamics
- Interface with brokers, joint venture partners, attorneys, lenders, property managers, and other market participants
- Conduct in-depth property-level, market, and industry due diligence
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3-5 years of experience in real estate asset management, acquisitions, or debt origination
- Strong proficiency in Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint
- Proven financial and cash flow modeling skills
- Argus or other software experience beneficial
- Excellent oral and written communication; will be required to engage with both internal and external stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail, desire to learn, and ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Willingness to work in Chicago and travel to tour properties and markets
