As the Assistant Vice President managing the technology team supporting the Reinsurance Department, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the technological infrastructure and software solutions that facilitate our complex treaty and facultative reinsurance operations. You will lead a team of IT professionals in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems that are critical to the reinsurance division's success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the technology team responsible for supporting the Reinsurance Department, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of complex treaty and facultative reinsurance structures to effectively manage technology solutions.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of third-party reinsurance software, ensuring it meets the needs of the reinsurance division.
  • Collaborate with the CIO and COO of Reinsurance to establish technology roadmaps and set priorities for system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and efficiency of reinsurance technology systems and data.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in technology services and operations supporting reinsurance activities.
  • Manage the technology budget for the reinsurance division, including forecasting, resource allocation, and cost control.
  • Foster a culture of high performance and continuous development within the technology team.
  • Serve as a key liaison between the IT department and reinsurance business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies related to technology and data management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing technology teams.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with complex treaty and facultative reinsurance structures.
  • Experience with third-party reinsurance software and systems is essential.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully delivering large-scale IT projects.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends, technology, and regulatory environments affecting the reinsurance sector.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets: experience and training: licensure and certifications: and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $200,000-$225,000.
