Simon's Heart is a dedicated non-profit organization focused on preventing sudden cardiac arrest in children. Our mission is to create and implement innovative programs to raise awareness about the warning signs and conditions that lead to sudden cardiac arrest and death. We are passionate about protecting the hearts of our youth and strive to make a significant difference in the community through education, advocacy, and research.
Position: Board Member
Overview:
We are seeking a committed and passionate individual to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of Simon's Heart, ensuring we remain true to our mission and achieve our goals. This is a volunteer position that requires dedication, expertise, and a willingness to actively participate in board activities. We are specifically looking for someone with expertise in fundraising, human resources, technology, or finance/accounting. This is a 3-year term commitment.
Responsibilities:
● Support the mission and vision of Simon’s Heart.
● Provide strategic leadership and governance to the organization.
● Attend and actively participate in regular board meetings.
● Serve on at least one committee or task forces and take on special assignments.
● Ensure the organization’s financial stability and sustainability.
● Assist in fundraising efforts and promote the organization’s mission.
● Evaluate and support the performance of the Executive Director and staff.
● Act as an ambassador for the organization in the community.
● Uphold the organization’s values, policies, and standards.
● Give an annual gift according to personal means and securing no less than $2,500 to revenue through their own personal fundraising efforts.
● Maintain confidentiality of board decisions.
Qualifications:
● Passion for the mission and values of Simon's Heart and willingness to be part of a highly active, working board and roll-up your sleeves to help us achieve our goals.
● Previous experience in a leadership or management role in either volunteer, non-profit, or a professional setting.
● Expertise in fundraising, human resources, technology, or finance/accounting.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively and think strategically.
● Commitment to regularly attending board meetings and organizational events.
● Willingness to contribute time, talent, and resources to support the organization’s mission.
