Business Operations Manager at Early-stage AI Biotech Startup

Early-stage AI biotech startup is looking for a strategic Business Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and initiatives across the organization. This is an incredible opportunity to join a collaborative team of 8 and make a significant impact on the growing organization! This multifaceted role will involve overseeing and optimizing various processes, managing key stakeholder relationships, and supporting critical functions such as hiring, fundraising and financial planning, and partner collaborations. Someone excited to be a thought partner to the co-founders and drive execution on initiatives in support of business priorities will thrive. This team is in-office based in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood. 150-180K+ DOE + equity, competitive benefits, and flexible PTO.

Responsibilities

  • Own and streamline the end-to-end hiring and onboarding processes, collaborating closely with Leadership. Support strategic hiring planning efforts to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Analyze and optimize processes within the organization and identify areas for improvement. Assist in the execution of strategic processes at different organizational levels.
  • Oversee and manage projects and tasks, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks, working closely with the leadership team.
  • Play a key role in regular company planning activities, ensuring alignment and effective execution.
  • Act as a strategic partner in investment management initiatives, including fundraising efforts.
  • Liaise with the finance consultants (accounting, controller), and leverage various tools to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to financial strategy discussions and planning, collaborating with the finance team and leadership.
  • Serve as a primary interface and drive relationships with key commercial partners and vendors. Collaborate with the technical team to support partnerships and relationships, handling administrative tasks to alleviate their workload. Identify and engage with stakeholders within the organization to foster effective collaboration.
  • Foster a positive and productive work culture.
  • Continuously analyze and optimize processes to streamline operations and leverage time effectively.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for optimizing the current tech stack to make it scalable.
  • Identify opportunities for implementing new systems or integrations to enhance operational efficiency.
  • As the company expands, potential for this role to contribute to the product area and support early sales hires and team development.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a strategic, operational Business Partner in an early-stage, high-growth startup. Plus if you come from biotech or are very biotech curious!
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective cross-functional relationships, partner closely with leaders, and keep multiple teams and projects on track.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • High customer empathy, customer instinct & mentality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing operational challenges.
  • Familiarity with liaising with financial partners and orchestrating strategy.
