WHO WE NEED

We are looking for an experienced, strategic, and adaptable Campus Recruiter/Senior Campus Recruiter to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead the charge in sourcing, screening, and hiring top-tier veterinary students for our ambassador program, externship program, and New ER Doctor Training program. You will report directly to the Director of Early Career Talent and will be responsible for overseeing and executing a comprehensive campus recruitment strategy.

This is a highly collaborative and travel-intensive role, requiring regular hospital visits, conferences, and campus events. We are seeking a candidate who is not only a strategic thinker but also an incredible mentor, or who is looking to grow into a mentor, with strong leadership skills. This candidate should have the ability to adapt to a dynamic work culture, build strong relationships, and grow a strong network within VEG and with the campus team.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO

Campus Strategy and Events

  • Develop and implement a strategic campus recruitment plan in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Campus Manager to help strategize and innovate in the campus space
  • Build and maintain relationships with student clubs, professors, and campus ambassadors across target schools to drive VEG's presence on campus.
  • Lead and execute all logistics for campus events in your region, including marketing, budget management, event staffing, and student survey analysis.
  • Track, analyze, and create stronger methods to track student engagement data to inform recruitment strategies.

Ambassador Program Leadership

  • Oversee and manage the selection process for campus ambassadors.
  • Create and execute an annual Ambassador orientation.
  • Meet with ambassadors throughout the school year to plan upcoming events and maintain relationships
  • Manage technology systems for oversight of the ambassador program

New ER Doctor Hiring

  • Evaluate and interview applicants from your target schools for our New ER Doctor Training program.
  • Coordinate candidate travel for hospital interview shifts within your region.
  • Prepare candidate packets and final recommendations for review by the Medical Hiring Committee.
  • Extend offers and manage follow-up through the offer decision process.
  • Innovate and implement strategies to improve offer acceptance rates

Leadership and Mentorship (Senior Campus Recruiter only)

  • Serve as a mentor and leader within the campus recruitment team, providing guidance and support to recruiters.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging the sharing of best practices and continuous learning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with VQ and hospital leadership teams to ensure alignment with recruitment goals.
  • Communicate regularly with the Director of Early Career Talent, Campus Manager, Team Talent, and Real Estate teams on future hiring needs and strategic initiatives.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, human resources, business administration, or a similar field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience (Campus recruiter) or 3+ years of experience (Senior campus recruiter) in campus recruiting, HR, career development, or a closely related field, with a proven track record of success.
  • Experience with CRM or ATS platforms preferred (we use Greenhouse!).
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, with a passion for developing and guiding team members.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and maintain confidentiality.
  • Confident in delivering presentations to large groups, both virtually and in-person.
  • Proficient with social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Instagram.
  • Willingness to travel up to *40-60% of the time (domestic and international travel possible) and work overtime during peak recruiting seasons.
  • A love for animals and a dedication to their care.
  • Strong preference for candidates located in the NYC metropolitan area and Chicago, IL
  • Travel can be expected to be heavier in your first 6 months
