Our client is a mid-market private equity-backed high growth healthcare services company that has built an impressive network of 200+ exceptional care providers across the country. With even greater growth plans, they are seeking a strategic minded, execution driven CFO with experience leading the maturation of an organization -- encompassing culture, talent, processes & policies, and systems. Experience in a multi-site consumer healthcare services environment is required, including leading M&A integration, driving initiatives to improve processes, and upgrading talent and building teams. Cash management & forecasting and debt covenant compliance experience are also key requirements. This leader will be intellectually curious, a natural partner with stakeholders across the organization, and adept at working with the Board. Experience navigating and taking a company through an exit is preferred. Our focus is on Finance leaders who are open to residing in San Antonio or Dallas, Texas.

The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team and, as an operational and strategic business partner to the Chief Executive Officer and other members of the executive team, the CFO will help develop, communicate, and execute the company’s strategic vision. Bringing both a strategic mindset and execution orientation, s/he will be a natural hands-on “builder” and will lead and continuously improve a high-performing finance and accounting function, ensuring that the right people, processes, and systems are in place to enable the company to continue to scale efficiently and effectively. This executive will develop and lead a team that provides critical support and advice to management and the Board of Directors to guide the strategic direction of the company and decision-making, using a data-driven, analytical approach. The CFO will work cross-functionally to continuously identify and capitalize on opportunities for both growth and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategy and Value Creation

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and help guide, communicate, and execute the company’s strategic vision.
  • Partner with the CEO and senior leadership, and “be in the business” to proactively identify opportunities that drive profitable growth, allow the company to gain market share, and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Deliver superior financial modeling and lead scenario analysis and planning to support strategy creation and evaluation of opportunities.
  • Drive customer, prospect, and market analytics for the company.
  • Maintain a keen focus on cash management and optimization and improve near-term cash forecasting.
  • Stay abreast of company and the market developments and trends, and make recommendations to enhance market position.
  • Play a key role in front-end diligence of acquisition targets and build and execute post-close onboarding and integration of acquisitions.


Team Building & Processes

  • Ensure the Finance & Accounting talent have the technical and leadership capabilities to support the company’s strategy and “right size” the team.
  • Develop, mentor, coach the team, instilling and maintaining a culture of accountability and drive, while infusing the team with optimism and inspiring commitment.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the company’s finance and accounting organization and drive continuous process improvements across the function.
  • Develop metrics and KPIs and build dashboards to track performance against targets.
  • Implement and lead repeatable and scalable processes for strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting including creating a rolling reforecast to provide visibility into performance gaps and potential risks to the plan.
  • Standardize operations from an accounting perspective and drive improved internal controls and compliance.


Finance & Accounting Operations

  • Oversee board reporting and the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial and business plans, providing analysis, insights, and specific guidance to the executive team on the operational objectives necessary to achieve specific revenue, profitability, and growth targets.
  • Manage core accounting functions including monthly, quarterly and year-end financial close of the books, and ensure timely and precise reporting of standard financial reports.
  • Create and document a set of repeatable processes to ensure books are closed timely and accurately.
  • Lead the annual audit process to achieve a successful year-end financial audit with no material adjustments and assure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Own, develop and manage relationships with banks and lenders and provide the necessary reporting, governance, and management of debt servicing.


Requirements & Qualifications


  • Proven success as a CFO of a rapidly growing, dynamic organization, preferably in a multisite, multi-state services business of larger size that scaled primarily through acquisition.
  • Ability to take a lead role in enabling a robust and thoughtful M&A strategy.
  • Significant experience in the full cycle of acquisitions, including pre-acquisition diligence, negotiations, relationships with bankers, post-acquisition integration.
  • Demonstrated experience driving operational efficiency, synergies, and margin improvements.
  • Demonstrated track record of continuous process improvements and implementation of best practices.
  • Proven ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth and operational excellence, utilizing analytics and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and build a high-performing team.
  • Experience partnering with and presenting to other members of the executive team, board of directors, and private equity investors.
  • Healthcare services industry experience highly preferred.
  • Strong experience interfacing with doctors preferred.
  • Private equity portfolio company experience highly preferred.
  • Sophistication around debt and experience owning relationships with banks and lenders.
  • CPA, experience in public accounting and/or investment banking experience preferred.
