New Mexico has some WILD temperature swings. For reference: The WBGT at 9am for Artesia, New Mexico, on September 1, 2024, was 61.2. At 1pm on the same day? 78.4—a 17.2 difference in 4 hours. 😲 So, for Kobe Cayton and Brian Taylor, the Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer at Artesia Public Schools in Artesia, New Mexico, obtaining and leveraging real-time weather data was a top priority. Naturally, a collaboration with us made sense. With our system, monitoring severe weather such as lightning and measuring heat stress became completely automated, so athletic directors and trainers like Brian and Kobe don’t have to manually check apps or take readings, allowing for 100% focus on developing athletes and maintaining the safety of practices and games. What’s more, Perry Weather can not only detect when severe weather is approaching but also act on the data by alerting staff and athletes through several channels of communication, such as our PA system that comes with our on-site hardware, or by a mobile notification, text, or email. If drastic severe weather swings are too frequent for trainers and directors to keep up with, Perry Weather also offers 24/7 access to meteorologists to ensure Kobe and Brian have peace of mind when making weather-related decisions. Curious to learn more about how Perry Weather’s real-time data helps schools manage unpredictable weather? If there were a way to describe PGA of America’s new headquarters, it would be… State of the art. In collaboration with Omni Hotels & Resorts, PGA of America launched its new $500M golf development in Frisco, Texas, featuring two 18-hole courses, a 10-hole short course, and a 500-room resort. With a campus as large as theirs, tracking weather and providing a smooth experience wasn’t just an afterthought; it was a necessity. That’s why they not only onboarded Perry Weather for all of their weather monitoring solutions but also signed us as an official partner. With Perry Weather’s seamless policy integration and quick notification system, PGA Frisco employees and superintendents can alert golfers to get off the course as soon as inclement weather arrives. Perry Weather also assists in outdoor event planning by offering custom weather forecasts and ongoing meteorologist support, which improves communication and safety, making it a valuable asset for PGA Frisco’s operations and events. Check out the full customer story on the Perry Weather website, linked below, to see how you can leverage Perry Weather for your own club and course.⬇️

A HUGE thank you to our exceptionally talented Principal Software Engineer, Jonathan Tran, for leading Perry Weather’s quarterly Lunch and Learn! This time, Jonathan took us through the fascinating process of how the Perry Weather platform detects lightning strikes, translates the data into an easy-to-read format, and notifies our customers in real-time. (Hint: There's a computer or two involved 😉)

Shane Callaway has historically used apps like WeatherBug for monitoring all potential severe weather while working on a project site in New Mexico for Gridworks, a construction company specializing in building solar farms. The problem with WeatherBug is that it pulls weather data from the nearest station, usually an airport, which requires an internet connection to do so. So when there’s no airport nearby, WeatherBuggy can’t give reliable weather data. Additionally, because project sites like Gridworks operate heavy machinery like cranes, and lift materials into the air, many work stoppages on a construction project site can be caused by high wind speeds. And because wind speeds can drastically vary even within 5 to 10 miles, WeatherBug can’t give Shane peace of mind that it’s 100% safe to operate these types of machines. Perry Weather was able to provide Shane Callaway and the Gridworks team with real, on-site weather data that assisted them in cutting down project delays and saving valuable resources, something WeatherBug can’t provide. Furthermore, Perry Weather’s automated alerts via notification or text, allowed Gridworks to make quick decisions, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and make sure that every employee is on the same page, no matter how far away they are on the project site. Check the full customer story with Gridworks to see how we revolutionized working around severe weather for them, and how it could help your organization on the next project site. Link below! 👇

At this point, we can all agree that the Perry Weather name is synonymous with weather safety in schools and high school athletics. But did you know we support more than just educational organizations? Enter Sacramento Drilling, Inc. They’re a construction company with a focus on drilling (duh). Currently, SDI is working in the rural area of Albuquerque, New Mexico, drilling holes for the installation of hundreds of solar panels to produce clean energy. These holes house torque tubes, which are expensive, long metal pipes that help maintain proper alignment and contain tracking sensors for optimal sunlight capture. So how does Perry Weather fit into this? Torque tubes are  transported to the installation area via a forklift. When high wind speeds arrive at the worksite, the risk of damaging the tubes significantly increases. Perry Weather helps SDI by delivering real-time data about wind speeds and inclement weather directly to their mobile devices or computers allowing project managers like Vic Henojosa and Robert Leonard to be proactive in ensuring the safety of employees and protection of valuable construction materials. Check out the full customer story to see how  Sacramento Drilling leverages Perry Weather’s real-time data and quick communication features to work smarter and how your construction site could benefit as well. Facing unpredictable weather that could endanger student-athletes along with new mandates from IHSA regarding heat stress measurement, DeKalb CUSD428 needed a new weather monitoring and alert solution—fast. Their answer? Well, I’m sure you already know the answer, but here’s why we stood out from our competitors to Dekalb as their top choice. Previously, DeKalb was using handheld monitors such as the Kestrel 5400, but were constantly running into the same issues: 1️⃣ - Inaccurate Readings: Kestrel devices frequently recorded higher than actual WBGT, leading to unnecessary practice alterations or cancellations. 2️⃣ - Lack of Warning Components: Without automated warnings based on the integrated IHSA heat stress policy, trainers had to manually inform coaches of necessary alterations, resulting in poor communication. 3️⃣ - Frequent Calibration: Kestrel units required frequent calibration and had to be set up 30 minutes before each practice, adding complexity and being prone to human error. 4️⃣ - Manual Data Logging: Kestrel devices lacked the ability to automatically log WBGT values, requiring manual recording of readings on paper. With Perry Weather, every pain point experienced with taking a reading on a handheld device was completely alleviated. DeKalb now gets automated, real-time readings from their on-site Perry Weather station, triggering automated messages via texts or push notifications, that contain clear, actionable guidance on necessary modifications to activities based on their custom policies. And that’s just scratching the surface of what Perry Weather can do. Check out their full customer story on the Perry Weather website, linked below in the comments, to see how else they utilize the power of Perry Weather. ⬇️
