Chief Legal Officer - Prominent Private Real Estate Investor

Company Overview: A leading private real estate lender and investor is seeking an experienced attorney to join their team as the first legal hire of the company!

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a skilled Chief Legal Officer with 10+ years of experience in commercial real estate transactions and litigation to provide expert legal counsel to their organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing legal matters related to our lending and investment activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigating legal risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice and guidance to senior management on a wide range of legal issues affecting the company's operations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial real estate transactions, including loan agreements, purchase and sale agreements, and leasing agreements.
• Manage and oversee litigation matters with outside counsel related to real estate transactions, including disputes with borrowers, investors, and other parties.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the executive team, risk management, and compliance departments, to develop and implement effective legal strategies.
• Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting the real estate lending and investment sector.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external legal counsel, regulatory agencies, and industry associations.

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• 10+ years of experience practicing law, with a focus on commercial real estate transactions and litigation.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex legal matters and providing strategic counsel to senior executives.
• Strong understanding of real estate finance, lending practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and work effectively under pressure.
