About the position: The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be responsible for crafting and implementing a comprehensive marketing strategy that amplifies our brand's presence in the blockchain industry. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of blockchain technology, specifically in Layer 1 and Layer 2 protocols, and have a proven track record of taking companies from inception to success. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, creative vision, and hands-on execution to effectively drive brand awareness, user acquisition, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a dynamic marketing strategy that aligns with the company's business goals and enhances its position as a leader in blockchain technology.
  • Lead brand positioning and messaging to effectively communicate the company's unique value propositions to different target audiences.
  • Oversee the creation of engaging marketing campaigns across multiple channels, including digital, social media, content, events, and influencer marketing.
  • Foster partnerships and collaborations within the blockchain ecosystem to enhance the company's reach and influence.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for differentiation and growth.
  • Build and manage a high-performing marketing team capable of driving ambitious growth targets.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, providing regular reports to the executive team.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure alignment between marketing initiatives and product development.
  • Drive community engagement through innovative strategies to grow the user base and promote advocacy within the blockchain space.

Ideal Candidate Attributes

  • Lead marketing for a crypto company beyond exchanges:
    • The candidate should have experience in marketing within the cryptocurrency industry, but not limited to cryptocurrency exchanges (platforms where people can buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies). They might have worked with blockchain projects, DeFi (Decentralized Finance) platforms, NFT (Non-Fungible Token) projects, or other crypto-related products and services.
  • Is crypto native:
    • The candidate should be deeply familiar with the cryptocurrency space, ideally having been involved in it for a significant amount of time. They should understand the culture, trends, and unique aspects of the crypto world, possibly being an early adopter or an active participant in the community.
  • Has experience building community:
    • The candidate needs to have a proven track record in creating and nurturing communities, which is crucial in the crypto space. This involves engaging with users, fostering discussions, organizing events, and building a loyal following around a project.
  • Has been at a company that has done a major TGE (Token Generation Event):
    • The candidate should have experience with companies that have launched a major Token Generation Event, which is a process where new tokens are created and distributed, often as part of an Initial Coin Offering (ICO) or a similar fundraising method. This requires knowledge of the regulatory landscape, marketing strategies for token sales, and managing investor relations.
  • Established projects in the space:
    • The candidate should have worked with well-known and reputable projects within the cryptocurrency industry, indicating that they have a successful track record and are familiar with high-impact, large-scale operations.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing leadership roles, with a significant portion spent in the blockchain industry.
  • Deep understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 blockchain protocols, with the ability to translate technical concepts into compelling marketing messages.
  • Proven track record of scaling companies from early-stage to success through effective marketing strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse marketing team.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
  • Established network within the blockchain community, with a track record of successful partnerships and collaborations.
