Chief Operating Officer (algo trading)

Sizable and expanding trading firm seeks COO/Co-Head of Trading

Required background:

• Extensive Electronic Trading experience, preferably at an algo trading, electronic market-making or quant prop firm.
• Proven experience in managing global trading operations and processes.
• Experience with various asset classes, TradeFi to DiFi.
• Experience in leadership, delegation and hands-on coordination roles in trading.
• Strong knowledge of financial, broker-dealer, etc. regulations and compliance.
• Experience in interacting with technological functions supporting trading.
• Proficient in budget management and financial analysis/reporting.
• High-level people and process management skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong educational background, ideally in computational finance or related

Key Responsibilities:

• Team Efficiency: Ensure the productivity and efficiency of the trading team by resolving operational and organizational issues, allowing traders to focus solely on trading.
• Operational Stability and Efficiency Growth: Analyze and address trading issues to foster continuous process improvement and operational stability.
• Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with the compliance function to ensure trading activities meet regulatory requirements, proactively managing compliance risks.
• Business Requirements Flow: Facilitate the continuous flow of business requirements to enhance trading setups and platforms.
• Process Development and Optimization: Develop, implement, and automate trading processes, monitor operational risks, and ensure adherence to internal policies and standards.
• Budget Management: Oversee the departmental budget, maintain financial reporting, forecast expenses, and analyze financial performance (excluding trading PnL).
• Onboarding and Mentorship: Organize onboarding for new traders to ensure a smooth and efficient transition, and provide ongoing mentorship within the team.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Act as a liaison between the trading department and other company departments, representing the trading team at the organizational level.
• Coordination with Strategy Head: Coordinate actions and share information with the head of trading strategies and PnL.
