We are really excited to be partnering with one of the leading US law firms to recruit a highly visible and new role Client Development role within their BD function. The role will have a clear focus upon the finance practice of the firm, becoming a key and trusted advisor to the partners within that group.


The role will also have the responsibility of managing a team who are also based in the New York office, so alongside the enthusiasm of operating in a client role we would also like to engage individuals who are passionate around developing and nurturing junior talent.


We would be very interested in speaking with Legal Business Development professionals who would be keen to move into a client focused role, alongside those who may be in a client role currently. An exposure of working in the Finance sector within a law firm would be a bonus but is not essential, we are confident that you can learn the technical aspects of the practice.


Previous experience of operating at a managerial level would be something we are ideally looking for, given this will be the lead Client professional and also having people management responsibilities.


Finally, whilst we have positioned this as a manager level appointment, the reporting line into a Director gives us the flexibility to also look at Senior Management applications, who may be looking a bit higher than the current salary banding.


Core responsibilities include;

  • In collaboration with the finance attorneys and finance BD team, come up with creative ideas for strategic business initiatives, tailored to the finance market.
  • Plan and deliver the annual business plan for the finance practice, looking at the key objectives and priorities for the group, setting and achieving core targets.
  • Take a keen interest in understanding the specific needs of the firm's largest clients, being proactive to help further these relationships and increase potential revenue streams for the firm.
  • Work in a key advisory capacity to the firm's partners to advise on market trends to ensure the firm is positioned in the best manner possible within specific markets.
  • Drive the execution of the client events program, working with wider BD colleagues on the planning and execution of this.
