Communication Writer

Job Description

COMMUNICATION WRITER, Center for Transportation & Logistics , will play a critical role in crafting and editing original content, managing multimedia projects, and developing and implementing communications and marketing strategies to support MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics’ objectives; will identify and develop strategic and diverse content, aligning with strategic goals, collaborating with leadership and working closely with the Director on composition and proofreading of research articles and abstracts, op-eds, book drafts, and other editorial work; will write, edit, and produce complex original content for internal and external audiences, including newsletters, promotional materials, and digital campaigns; will manage relationships with industry publications and media representatives covering logistics, supply chain, generative AI, Massive Open Online Courses, and related areas, to increase visibility for MIT CTL’s research and initiatives; will manage all aspects of podcast production, including preparation with guests, question composition, coordination with MIT AV and third-party editors, transcript review, audio editing, and publishing; will collect, review, and analyze data on the effectiveness of various communications vehicles or campaign performance, using insights to inform strategy.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field; at least 3 years of experience in communications or marketing; exceptional writing and editing skills; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, MailChimp, Salesforce, and content management systems like Drupal and WordPress; experience managing complex projects and coordinating with external vendors. PREFERRED : master’s degree; familiarity with MIT and MIT CTL brand guidelines; working knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and generative AI concepts; experience in an academic setting and with MIT systems.
